Chips: 586 | | | Paulson (or "Paulson-like") Solid Tourney Set I am looking for a set of solid color compression molded tournament chips (new or used condition). My preference is Paulsons. Thanks to Jamby and Harlequin for info on their sets available.
Here is the wish list: Not necessary to have denoms on chips - although that is a plus. Also, hot stamps (starburst, casino name, initials) are ok as well. I would prefer something with traditional casino colors, or at least close to the general traditional colors (25 = green, black = 100, etc.); but I would consider color variations. Looking for something along the lines of 200+ x 25's, 250+ x $100's, 100+ x $500's, and 50+ x $1,000's. I basically want to give out T3000 or similar to around 24 players. A larger set than this is ok as well (if I ever need them for a gigantic tourney, or rebuy tourney).
I know that there may not be an exact match out there - I may have to modify my desires a bit depending on what is available.
Although I prefer Paulsons, I would consider ASM solids, T-molds, or similar. I am aware of the Wallson solid chips; they are very fine chips for their purpose (affordable chips with a good feel). But I am looking for a little higher grade of chip. I have promissed my wife that this will be my "lifetime" tournament set (laughing histerically!).
Thanks,

Clipper | Hi,
If you find you like ASM solids and are happy with stock denominations, you might just be best off going to pokerchips.com directly. You'll be able to pick the colours/setup you want and the price will be hard to beat (see http://www.pokerchips.com/chips/chips_styles.html - 55c each for 1000). You may even be able to get others interested in a group buy to get quantity discounts.
Good luck with your decision and, if you haven't felt them all yet, remember to get samples of anything you're considering.
Regards,
David. |

Chips: 390 | | | Re: Paulson (or "Paulson-like") Solid Tourney Set Do you plan to leave them blank, have them hotstamped, use inlays? That could sway your decision.
Custom hotstamp will run you .15/chip + $100/die.
Inlays will cost you more per chip through ASM or you could go with vinyl inlays.
Have you sampled the PI solids? Not too bad...not Paulson or ASM quality, but not bad for a home tourney. Oiling helps out a lot with these chips. |

Chips: 586 | | | Re: Paulson (or "Paulson-like") Solid Tourney Set I may have to get some PI solid samples. I have a hard time forking out the $20 or so they charge for sample sets. I guess it would be money well spent.
I actually want something that I can resell if necessary (get my money out of it). I am using my poker bankroll to pay for it; and if times were tough (I hope never that tough though) I would need access to it. Otherwise I would have a custom set made. |

Those can be had for not too much and be very nice for your games. If the roulette stamp bothers you, you can always have it removed.

Chips: 390 | | | Re: Paulson (or "Paulson-like") Solid Tourney Set Here's a video comparison of Paulson Pharaoh's vs. PI solids. I made this mainly for the sound differences. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfQsSUqA07U
As you can see, uhh hear, the Paulsons have a distinctive "clack" while the PI solids have more of a subdued thud. I personally like the Paulson's hands down, but for a solid tourney chip, it's hard to beat the PI solids at their price.
HPC has a tourney set in the works right now in another thread. Don't know if one side can be a custom stamp, but if it can, that's another option. Those will most likely be upwards of .70/chip though. Not bad, but more expensive than the PI solids. |

Chips: 96 | | | Re: Paulson (or "Paulson-like") Solid Tourney Set being that your preference is to the paulsons, have you seen the fun nites? these might work well for you.
t-molds, as you mention you would consider, are another great chip. great color selection, feel, sound... overall great.
pokerchips.com (jimb) also started a thread yesterday about their new hourglass mold. if i interperet it correctly, he said in post#22 that they could come solid or hotstamped. you can also get the circle-square mold as a solid.
btw, are you set on the T3000 structure? | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
