Chips: 32 | | | Re: WTB El Tropcial chips Thanks for the link, but it's a good bit more than I wanted to spend on them. I've seen an Ebay auction end under $.50 each recently..plus the other one that was a stupid cheap price. I wish I would have seen the auctions before they finished. I'm still looking if anyone sees any others. |

I said then and still believe that those prices you saw were aberrations. It happens sometime, but isn't necessarily an indicator of value.
A complete set of Chipcos in excellent condition from a closed casino are a real find, not a common one at all. That doesn't even address just how beautiful the El Trops are. Probably the only other set that is even comparable are the various Stardancers that show up now and then.
Good luck in your search though. Quote:

I can see both Jamey's and Jamby's viewpoints on those chips. Jamby knows that I like those chips, and had been thinking about trying to do at least a full sample set. But like Jamey, I find it hard to pay what I know is a reasonable collector's value price, knowing that I missed out on at least three crazy cheap sales on them. It's not as much an issue for me, since I only have the $1 and $5 for now; if I was closer to having the full set (either as individuals or a playable set), I'd probably bite the bullet on a purchase. I guess it's like anything else: when someone wants to buy them badly enough, someone else will have a sale on their hands. |
