WTB: Wood chip racks

I'm planning to build a chip cabinet -- just gathering ideas at this stage... I was going to buy the chip racks, then toyed with the idea making them myself. Now I am back to the idea of buying them.

I am looking for 100-count wooden racks ($4 new) like these:

or 500-ct wooden racks ($15 new) like these:

Do you have any? I'm thinking of storing about 3,000 chips, so 6 500-ct trays or 30 100-ct trays.... and a whole bunch of chips spacers! Erikk?!

Re: WTB: Wood chip racks

Wow -- I just found the 100-ct chip racks for $1.80 each.

Re: WTB: Wood chip racks

Good find Wedge! At some point I wouldn't mind making my own case as well. But I would want to stain it with a very dark stain. I wonder if these racks have some sort of clear finish on them that would prevent them from being stained unless you sanded them first.

Re: WTB: Wood chip racks

*aces&faces* has some of the 100-ct. I'm sure he could tell us. (I'll bet they have *some* finish, though...)

As to the 500-ct, its made for a dealer rack, i.e. in play on the table, so I'm sure it has some protection...

I saw this right before leaving work, and now I'm thinking I might want this instead...

I know its plastic, but it'll be inside the drawers, and frankly, when you open the drawers, all you'll see is the chips. Plus, I like the way the rows are angled... Shows off the inlay and pushes all the chips back to the edge... no spacers needed.

Holds 700 chips... 4 drawers of these would be plenty. The price ($22) is steep, IMHO... The store the image is linked from is local, so I might go check them out. Anyone with experience with any of these, opinions would be appreciated.

Comments?

Re: WTB: Wood chip racks

When you lay this on a flat surface.......I believe the actual bottom of the plastic tray is angled. It will not lay flat and not rock.

Re: WTB: Wood chip racks

I figured as much... I planned to use thin stock to build a frame on the inside of the drawer for this to sit into...
