Please verify! | Actually, the stud8 is not 8's or better to open. There are no requirements for coming into a hand. This is a common mistake, while most people will know what you mean, someone that's used to Jacks or better draw might think you need a pair of 8s to come into the hand or something like that. The proper terminology is "8 or better" for low. |

Chips: 1,577 | | | oh so its not a pair of 8's, but it means that the high card in the hand is an 8 or lower? |

Chips: 14,006 | | | I always thought that the 8 or better phrase for low hand was misleading. It should be 8 or worse, 8 or lower, etc. I say 8/b should mean 8 or below.

You hold AKK3
Flop - 28Q
Turn - 9
River - 5
You had the nut low draw and an overpair on the turn. By the river you have the nut low, but just a pair of kings high.
The worst possible low hand that qualifies to take part of the pot is 87654.
In Jacks or better, you must have a pair of jacks or better in your hand before the draw to open the betting.
JM is right that it should be called "8 or lower" or something similar. But everyone refers to the wheel as a good hand, not the worst hand. |

Chips: 1,577 | | | Can't the wheel also give you the best and worst hand?
Also wouldn't the 87654 be a straight? Or are straights not counted when going low? |

Chips: 14,006 | | | Right, str8s and flushes don't count towards low, so a str8 flush of a2345 is almost the best hand you could hope for. But just the wheel str8 will win both high and low pots for you much of the time.

Chips: 385 | | You might want to get regular omaha high down pat before you venture to hi/lo, because everyone will be super confused, and with you also being new to it, you won't be able to see everything immediately, and everyone will expect you to read their hands for high and low, all at the same time, and everyone will be like "WFT, you don't even know what the hell is going on, lets play some NLHE"
The whole idea of using exactly two hole cards blows some people's mind. Add in the low hand aspect, and forget about it.
But that would be awesome if you could ease it into your lineup. |

Chips: 1,577 | | | Good point whitepotatoe. I just called a buddy of mine who plays regularly in my group he and two other guys are going to give Hi/lo a try for a while and get better at reading hands. We have all played Omaha Hi online and at our cash games so the two cards concept won't be that big of a problem with most of the guys.
I do think the HORSE idea will be a push for many of the guys. We shall see!
