Fair payout?

Wonding if this seems like a far payout, everyone always agrees at the home games I hold but sometimes I feel like ppl are just not happy.

with 9 players we pay out top 3 as follows on a $20.00 buy in....

1st -- $100
2nd -- $50
3rd -- $30

I usually do 50, 30, and 20 % but that's pretty close...fair enough.

Have you ever asked the group??

Other than that...I think its pretty fair

50%= $90..... 30%=$54...... 20%= 36.....and your numbers are pretty close to those!!! And a whole heck of a lot easier to change out because everyone always has a twenty....but never fives or ones!!!!

I have asked the group and everyone just seems to be OK thats great or sure.....

Sometimes I think they just want 2 payouts but we did that for so long and its really not fair ( in my opinion) to have someone spend that much time to go out on the bubble in 3rd.

The amount changes of course for less or more players but usually we have atleast 9 thats why I posted those #'s.

I try and keep it closest to the nearest 5 or so for break up reasons. Remeber this is Canada after the $5.00 bill we get into change lol

OOOhh yeaa....ummm...sorry about that whole change...thing...um.....yea.....welll.....ok

j/k its late here....I really like change! I love to throw my Dollar Coins into our cash game pots!!! Big Splashing Sounds!!!!

Hey you should also tell the group that they need to definitive in what they want!! Tell them to lay it out there! Show enthusiasm or go home!!!

At least that is what I would do...if your hosting, you should try to please the masses and the only to please them is find out what they want and the only way to find out what they want is to ask them! Ask them directly!

This is what we do and find it covers well for any buyin amount.

5 players or less(no rebuy) - winner takes all
6 players or more(no rebuy) - 2nd gets their money back, 1st gets rest

Any rebuy game, 1st gets 80%, 2nd gets 20%.

For our homes games, less than 10 buy-ins means only the top 2 get money, with 2nd getting a buy-in back and the winner taking the rest. Once we get over 10 then we start adding another spot, and we basically add one paid spot for every 5 buy-ins/players.
