Chips: 1,845 | | | What's a good rebuy point? I'm going to be changing my game to a T2500 and I'm thinking about changing my rebuy policy. Currently, I only allow rebuys after a bust out. Just looking for some thoughts to different possibilities.
Bust out works pretty well, but does often leave some people at the rebuy period with severe short stacks, but nothing they can do.
<1000 seems pretty good to me. It allows the short stacks an option without having to go into all-in mode toward the end of the rebuy. A rebuy only takes them to a max of 3,500 also.
<2000 seems like too much to me. What I don't want is a rebuy fest where you're basically compelled to do it to keep up with everyone else. |

Chips: 732 | | | I voted <1000. If you treat the rebuy as a chance for people to stay in the tournament I think it actually works better to allow it before they bust. Otherwise you just end up with short stacks going all-in prior to the end of the rebuy period until they double up or bust and can rebuy. That's annoying. |

Chips: 12 | | | I do T1000 tourneys with rebuys only after a bust. I also allow an add-on at the end of the rebuy period to allow those short stacks a chance to top up. That and it also serves to sweeten the pot... |

If it were me - I'd only allow a rebuy on a bust out - otherwise its an ALL-IN-fest for the 1st hour. It can get insane that way. |

When it's only a rebuy at bustout, the last few hands before the rebuys end are a mess. I've done events with rebuy + add-on and I like them OK. They do build a huge pot! But kind of like the allowed immediate rebuys, what I don't want is something where you're basically compelled to do it. To me, those instant rebuys and add-ons generally work like that. I don't want to tell people it's a $20 game when in reality you have to spend $60 to keep up with a decent chip stack most nights. |

I like that the rebuys are there for the fishies to pump up the pot, plus, it gives me a safety net to be able to play a little more loosely to try and take down a big pot early on and I also have insurance if I do happen to take a bad beat. |

I play with a T1000 chips and allow rebuys at <200. I like how it works. |

I mean, you go through the trouble of getting 8 or 9 people over to your house, you don't want people to have to go home after the second hand when their Aces full of Queens just lost to quad queens... Just let them rebuy, and enjoy playing some poker. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
