I didn't vote. If you want unlimited rebuys, run it like a real rebuy tournament... anytime you are at or below the starting stack, you can rebuy. you get an addon at the appropriate time (either a discounted starting stack or a larger stack for a normal buyin).

If you want restricted rebuys, go ahead and restrict them to one or two. Allow an addon if you like. From what you describe, it seems like "Two rebuys if at or below 1k chips. Addon at the end of the rebuy period" would be ideal. I'm considering adopting this format myself, although I do like the unlimited rebuys because I can magoo it up for awhile if I want.

if the money is an issue, cut the buyin in half and encourage people to buy twice right away. If someone wants to buy in for $10 and try to win the whole thing with that single stack, more power to them... I'm throwing $20 right away so that I have a STACK. If I drop below the threshold, I rebuy immediately. I always take the addon unless I'm far and away the leader (or one of three or four far and away leaders). That's just me, money is simply fun coupons...

No vote from me. I'm another "anyone at or below the starting stack" type when it comes to rebuys. I don't play very many rebuy events when I play tournies online because the play annoys me. At a home game it makes more sense and I do allow rebuys at my home games since otherwise people may be waiting 2 hours to get back into the action and that could kill a game real quick.

Thinking about my home game just now, though, most of the guys actually wait to bust out before deciding on a rebuy. If that's how they want to play it that's fine. I just don't want them to have to wait until they are out of contention completely before they can add some money to the pot.

Looks like most voted bust out only. I don't agreed with that, I voted 1000 but 2000 would be ok too.

I like no rebuys, freezeout.

freeze out is best if you run a tournament with a decent buy-in. if the buy-in is small then a re-buy makes sense.

I agree with you, my tourneys usually start @ $20 with rebuys for the first two hours (tight table). Usually works out pretty well...

I agree. Our end of season game is a bigger buy-in freezeout. I don't mind doing it once in awhile, but as others have said, I think rebuys tend to fit in with a low key home game. I'd hate for the guys that bust out on the first hand (it has happened more than once) to have to sit around and mope for 3 hours.

I say still rebuy only at bust. It will give good players a chance to get back in and make some money, and give bad players a chance to give good players more money

I typically allow re-buys for bust-outs; however, they have to pay the same as the initial buy-in while receiving 25% fewer chips. This allows for re-buys when necessary, but with a penalty to discourage its abuse.
