Nice idea. They did seem pretty high at 20% or just below. Also, I like the addeed level.

I wish my poker buddies would play a tournament like this, but nobody would want to play for this long for our normal buy in (I played for 20 hours and won $40! WTF?!?! ) Also, I don't think most of them have ever played for more than 8 hours straight, so this would seem crazy to them.

Anyways, it sounds awesome. Good luck.

I am really looking forward to it, and so are my poker buddies. A couple have never played a tournament with more than one player, and many have hardly ever played with antes. They certainly have never played in an 8+ hour event before.

When I mentioned 45 minute rounds to one person, he seemed suprised. And did give me a "you're crazy" look. He's still playing though. Tough to have a two day event with only 16 people with 15-30 minute blinds!

None of these guys are crazy enough to event think about having such an event, but at least they're willing to play in it.

We usually play 2-3 $20 T2000 tourneys every other week. So this event's buy in is 2-3 times one night's entry fees.

Regarding the levels, I was also toying with the idea of adding in a 500-1000 level and a 1200-2400 level. But with my time constrains on day 1, that would mean two rounds with black chips on day two, plus the greater potential for more than the top 5 coming back the next day.

Of course, this will seem like the dumbest idea in the world if I bust out before the dinner break on day 1, but that's poker!

This would be a lot of fun to play in. I don't think the structure would work for my normal game because after 4 levels in 3 hours and the big bet just hitting 1/50 of the starting chip count we'd have a lot of drunks & stoned people at the table. Good practice for quality poker & long events, though.

I'm curious to hear stories about this tournament and when the first people are knocked out.

I wanna play!

Seriously, I love the idea of a two day event. Of course, if the buyin is anything less than $100 then it really isn't a good use of time.

Sounds like a great time, though.

I agree 100% about the buy in. I set it at $125 with 16 players, for a $2000 total prize pool.

I decided to pay out as deep as possible and still have the worst ITM spot make more than their buy in back. So I'm paying out 5 people at roughly 40%/24%/16%/11%/9%.
  1. 800
  2. 475
  3. 325
  4. 225
  5. 175

EDIT: Oh, I'm also asking $3 per person and I'm going to have a cookout at dinner with burgers, hotdogs, etc. That'll sure beat ordering pizza and add to the festivites and good times hopefully.
