Superbowl Sunday Deep Stack Sit and Go

Ok, we have sort of an odd tournament that my dad wants to run at his superbowl party. This is HUGE stakes for my regular players and it is limited to 1 table.

What we did last year was T500 with a mess of chips that I had to throw together.

This year I want to do things a little different I'll lay out the requirements that my dad gave me even though its "non traditional"

T10,000 I have enough 25, 100, 500, 1000 and 5000 chips to spread a T10k game over 20 ppl so chips shouldnt be an issue but starting stack info would help as well
8 Players $50 buy in
2 Rebuys 10k for $50

should run for ~6 hours ( game is starting at noon and want it to run right up to kick off ) Dad doesnt want a bunch of strangers in his house, and wants everyone to feel like they got there moneys worth so thats why we have a 1 table game thats gonna run for 6 hours.

Any suggestion for levels? times? etc. We want the early rounds to be VERY soft so that we don't bust ppl out in the first hour or so.

Thanks for the help guys.

Something like this might work with 20 minute levels:

1st hour:
25/50
50/100
75/150
2nd hour:
100/200
150/300
200/400
3rd hour:
250/500
300/600
400/800
4th hour:
500/1000
700/1400
1000/2000
5th hour:
1500/3000
2000/4000
2500/5000
6th hour:
3000/6000
4000/8000
5000/10000
7th hour:
7000/14000
10000/20000

You should wrap up by the 5000/10000 level, depending on the number of rebuys, players and hands. It could end sooner too, depending on the crowd. If you add breaks in, it should definitely get you to the kickoff though. 1-3 of the guys might still be active when you get to the kickoff too. It's really hard to predict the exact time of a tournament though.

One way you could do it, is start off with 30 minute levels the first two hours, then switch to 20 minutes levels for the second two hours, then switch to 15 minutes levels for the 5th hour and when you get down to the 6th hour, do 10 minute levels. This will make it more likely that you'll wrap things up during the 6th hour. It would look something like this:

1st hour:
25/50
50/100

2nd hour:
75/150
100/200

3rd hour:
150/300
200/400
250/500

4th hour:
300/600
400/800
500/1000

5th hour:
700/1400
1000/2000
1500/3000
2000/4000

6th hour:
2500/5000
3000/6000
4000/8000
5000/10000
7000/14000
10000/20000

Another option you could do is just allow 1 or no rebuys and get a cash game going for those that get knocked out. Plan on the tournament finishing in 3-4 hours and do the cash game right up until kick off. That is one way you can guarantee that poker will last until just before kickoff.

Not sure how your group feels about cash games though, but most home games I've played at, everyone usually enjoys switching it up from tournament to cash game mode. Add in some mixed games or dealers choice and the cash game can be a ton of fun.

Yeah, cash game is the way to go before the Superbowl. That's what we are doing. Plus we've traditionally done a quick and cheap tourney during halftime, that lasts only the length of halftime. Kind of fun and makes for ultra aggressive play.

Genius!

As for the cash game I'd love to do it but I dunno how receptive the group would be to it. I'll bring it up. Thanks for the help!

So how did your tourney turn out Maniac? We played cash game all day. Had a blast. That's the most fun I've had playing in a long time.

Re: Superbowl Sunday Deep Stack Sit and Go

Tourney went great, ended up with 8 players and 2 rebuys. I finished 3rd after getting screwed by lady luck 3x. We had a calling station who rarely ever plays NLHE in the tourney, called my pair with AJo on a dry board and hit a A on the river, Hit a 2 outer on the river, and some other mathmatical impossibility that I was so tilted I can barely remember

I did the math on all the hands he beat me on and it was 96%, 75%, and another 80ish% hand. Oh well variance is a *****. I got a picture of starting stacks, but forgot to take action shots.

chips are Pharoahs China clays T10k, couple extra buy ins cause I was hoping to get 1-2 more players.

Tourney ran til halftime because we got a late start.

Re: Superbowl Sunday Deep Stack Sit and Go

Nicely done. We played our cash game for about 3 hours before the game. Took a break to eat and watch the first half. Started up again at halftime and just kept on playing (as one of the TV's was still visible from where we were playing and we were having such a good time. It was a loose game and people where having drinks and a good time was had by all (except one maybe). We stopped to watch the last 4-5 minutes of the game and then played for another hour or so after the game.
