Looking to order a new set

I am trying to get a tournament going at my house and am going to order 300 chips. Whats a good blind structure/starting stack for this? I also need to know how many chips to order.

I was thinking of starting with T5000
8x T25
8x T100
4x T500
2 x T1000

Blinds starting at 25/50 and going up every 15 mins.

Does this look like a good structure? If so, how many of each chip value should I get, my set will be 300 chips?

This custom ChipTalk link is built to show you only the real deal: Casino quality poker chips; Not the plastic chips that some sellers call "clay."

Re: Looking to order a new set

Here is my 300 chip breakdown:

80 T25s
105 T100s
40 T500s
65 T1000s
10 T5000s

For 10 players, you can do a 10K 8/8/4/2/1, but if you have only 8, you can do things like 8/13/4/7 (and use the 5Ks for color-ups and/or rebuys). Or you can skip the extra 100s and just go with 80/80/40/90/10.

You can use the WSOP Main event structure.

Take a look at this link. It will give you everything you need to build a solid structure and ideas regarding the breakdown of your set.

You can ask 10 people the same question regarding how to set up a tournament and you'll get more than 10 different answers.

It really boils down to personal choice. Some people like me prefer deep stack tourneys with plenty of play and others prefer turbos.

Re: Looking to order a new set

To create a stucture we need to know:
  • How many players are expected
  • How long you want the tournament to run
Also, if this is your first set of poker chips, I would recommend getting one that works for cash games as well. For my tournaments I use values of 5, 25, 100, etc so that we can use them in our 0.05€/0.10€ cash game afterwards.
