Does this sound like a decent T25,000 structure?
Does this sound like a decent 10 player T25,000 structure? 20 minute blinds and no antes. Starting stack 8x25,8x100,4x500,7x1000,3x5000:
1st $25 - $50
2nd $50 - $100
3rd $100 - $200
4th $150 - $300
5th $200 - $400
BREAK COLOR UP $25s
6th $300 - $600
7th $400 - $800
8th $500 - $1000
9th $600 - $1,200
10th $800 - $1,600
BREAK COLOR UP $100s
11th $1,000 - $2,000
12th $1,500 - $3,000
13th $2,000 - $4,000
14th $3,000 - $6,000
15th $4,000 - $8,000
16th $5,000 - $10,000

Re: Does this sound like a decent T25,000 structure?
That is going to be one long tournament.
You might want to consider chipping up the T25's one level before you have it scheduled, as you won't really need them for the 200/400 level.
Also, if you want to keep your breaks in line (after each 1hr 20 min period).. you might want to adjust accordingly. It also depends on how long you want to play.
You could, if you wanted, remove the 600/1200 and 800/1600 levels, and break to color up the T100's there and go to 1000/2000, 1500/3000...etc..., which gives you 1hr 20 min before each break... OR You could then go to 600/1200; 700/1400; 800/1600; 900/1800 to add another 1hr. 20 period. .. from there, you could go 1000/2000 then 1500/3000, 2000/4000 , 2500/5000, 3000/6000 and break. at that point, you can just start the next level at 4000/8000, or 5000/10000, and go from there.
Estimates usually have the tournament ending around the time the BB is the same as the starting stack, so your tournament (as is) should last about 6-7 hours as well (maybe more with breaks).
Sorry, started and got sidetracked.. hope that made sense..

Re: Does this sound like a decent T25,000 structure?
I'd suggest starting at level 3, skipping level 4, and having starting stacks of 0 x T25, 10 x T100, 4 x T500, 7 x T1000, 3 x T5000.
For my T20k, I go with starting stacks of 15 x T100, 7 x T500, 10 x T1000, 1 x T5000. The T5000 acts as a card capper (and/or all-in chip) until they start to become important - usually after the T100s have been coloured up.

Re: Does this sound like a decent T25,000 structure?
Thanks for all the feedback so far! The group that I play with uses a similar structure that I posted and our tournaments with 25K starting stacks usually go 4-4.5 hours with the final two usually chopping. The blinds structure is pretty much the same as what the Borgata uses for most of their tournaments, but they sometimes do 2 100-200 levels instead of using the 150-300 level. I think in some of our tourneys the blinds go to 15 minutes after level 8, but others keep it at 20 minutes. There are 3 of us that host and usually each tourney is slightly modified when it comes to the blind structure. We also don't do antes because in a home game it becomes a pain in the ass to collect all the antes especially since we rotate the deal. Keep the feedback coming as much appreciated! For now I'm stuck with the 8-8-4-7-3 starting stacks since I just ordered a small set of Pioneer Commemorative's from the Chiproom that will accommodate those starting stacks for 10 players. We use the 8-8-4-7-3 starting stacks in our games and it works out pretty well.

Re: Does this sound like a decent T25,000 structure?
I've mentioned this site Blind Valet - free blind structure creator and poker clock before in other threads. I think it's great and have been using it for my tournaments for some time. It allows you to specify all the tournament parameters (nr players, mins per level, total running time, etc) and calculates a blind structure for you (not to mention suggested starting chips). Even comes with a configurable timer. Runs in your browser on Mac or Windows.

Re: Does this sound like a decent T25,000 structure?
If you have the time to run it like you have it there by all means go for it. If you want to cut some levels I would do
50-100
100-200
150-300
200-400
300-600
400-800
600-1200
800-1600
1000-2000
1500-3000
2000-4000
3000-6000
4000-8000
6000-12000
8000-16000

500BB stacks?
You need 12 green /12 or 17 black / 7 or 6 purple / 10 orange / 2 gray T5k chips
Think about :
Making change during the play
Length of time people will be in, playing.
