I am in a poker league where I am the chip leader with 160 pts after 7 events of 10 events. The top 10 make the final table after 10 events, but you get to throw out 3 events. In my previous 7 events, I have won once and have a bunch of middle of the road appearances. We award 2 pts for last place and keep giving 2 pts for every player out until we have a champ. Usually we have about 15 people, so winning the tournament gives you about 30 pts.
Now here is where I need advice. Since I don't have any clear throw-out events, I need to finish in the top to push out some of my middle performances. I am thinking of playing very aggressive in the beginning of the next event so that I can try to double-up and bully my way to the top 3. If I get knocked out, so be it as that will count as one of my 3 dropped events.

Sound like the right strategy?
Yes you could willingly accept a coinflip early that you might otherwise walk away from - you have that luxury. I would tend to say, "stay with what works" since that's how you got where you are now. I wouldn't play poker bingo or anything like that, though. There's never a reason to give your chips away.
In general I agree with your idea but don't go crazy with it, ok?
If I were you, I'd only take your top 4 finishes into account (essentially dropping your lowest 3 scores right now). Do the same withe the rest of the league and that should give you a better idea where you actually stand. That's what I did for my league and it helped me understand where I truly was...
