20 players / 3 Hours... Will this work?

I am wanting the game to be 3 to 4 hours long.

20 players, T10,000, blinds raise every 30 minutes/ NO rebuys or add ons.

300/600
500/1000
1500/3000
2500/5000
5000/10000
(Im wanting the tourn to be over here, or close to it)
7500/15000
10000/20000

I am new to the tourn and blinds, but read what I could find and this is the result. Will it work out? Any obvious flaws?

don't like the jumps at all

one idea for 30 min blinds

(at 5k for big blind there would be 40 Big Blinds in play...which will get down to heads up quickly IMO if it isn't there already...then you can add 3000-6000 to finish everything off)


OR, if you don't mind changing level lengths to 20 mins

600 - 1200
800 - 1600

1000 - 2000
1500 - 3000
2000 - 4000

2500 - 5000
3000 - 6000


feel free to get rid of the 2500-5k if you want...then once you get to 4k-8k there are only 25 big blinds left in total...and should end on that level

If your blinds increase 300% from one level to the next then you need to shorten the levels. "Longer blinds" does not necessarily equal "better structure"

I agree, the jump between blind's is crazy, but if your player's don't mind etc go for it.

I play in a Saturday bar game with 50BB's to start and 15 min blind level's with normally around 20 player's and it usually take's between 2.5-3 hour's to complete.

I was worried the blinds would not make it around the table with just 20 minutes per level.

I like the schedules provided. Much smoother.

Whats the advantage of having blinds over simple antes? With blinds, not everyone pays the same to play. While I am sure it evens out, just curious. (For some reason I feel I could get shot for this question )

When we get 20 people at my tournament, we start at 10K in chips, 25/ 50 an I do 30 min levels, then 20 min levels after 3 hours, then 15 min levels after we get to 3 or 4 handed and it usually takes more than 7 hours. Id never wanna play a tournament structure that finishes that big in 3 hours...

I agree, It seems luck would rule the day. Maybe I should scrap the short toureny idea.

The more I think about it, the less I like it.

Okay, the idea isnt dead. We are going to do it, but with just 10 players. Still looking at 3 hours or less per tourn.

Need to decide on a structure. I like the T10,000 with this blind schedule:
