Chips: 3,267 | | | Lone Star Roundup Heads-up Event Structure Following Andi’s lead, for those who might be interested, here is the structure we will be using for the "ChipTalk Lone Star Roundup" Heads-up Tournament. Event: No-Limit Texas Hold'Em, Single Elimination, Heads-Up Tourney Buy-in: $15 Payout: 45%, 28%, 17%, 10%. A consolation match will be played at the same time as the championship match to determine 3rd & 4th place. Max Field: 16 Min Field: 8 Seeding: Players will draw cards for seeding. Some players may get 1st round byes (if there are less than 16 players). If necessary, redraws will be held before the start to ensure no player gets a 2nd round bye. Starting Stacks: (for all rounds): 3500 Color-ups: No color-ups. Chips will be re-set at 3500 for each round. Blinds (for all rounds): 1. 25-50 – 15MIN 2. 50-100 – 15MIN 3. 75-150 – 15MIN 4. 100-200 – 15MIN 5. 150-300 – 10MIN 6. 200-400 – 10MIN 7. 300-600 – 10MIN 8. 600-1200 – 10MIN 9. 1000-2000 – To end of match. Blinds for the next hand are determined at the time the winner of a hand has been determined (not after posting and rifling). At the beginning of each round the blinds will be re-set to 25-50. Dealing- first deal: Players will draw cards to determine who is dealer for the first hand. High card wins. Ties redraw. Dealing- multiple decks: Each match will have 2 decks. Players can agree to let each other shuffle and cut their deal. Without such an agreement, the dealer should offer the other player the option to cut the deck. Standard NLTH rules apply regarding betting, etc. A 30 second clock will be used when time is called on a player. A hand which is shown before the showdown is considered dead. If we have 8 players, we will play this as a double-elimination tournament to allow for more play.

Chips: 172 | | | Re: Lone Star Roundup Heads-up Event Structure I like it. Nicely done. HU tourneys are fun. I like double-elimination HU tourneys. That way you one bad beat and you are not out. Figuring the brackets are a little trickey, but there are brackets out there on the net to find. |

Chips: 7,771 | | | Re: Lone Star Roundup Heads-up Event Structure Thanks for psoting this Randy! I bet it proves very helpful to others interested in hosting a HU tourney. Especially since the NBC HU Championships are being broadcast now.
Can't wait for the big event. I need to better my finishes for a new personal best - 2nd round, chop for 3rd/4th, chop for 1st/2nd with Abby getting the spoils of victory (the fantastic ABC trophy). The carrot is just dangling so close.

Chips: 1,081 | | | Re: Lone Star Roundup Heads-up Event Structure This has been used for the two WIndy City meetups and the Meet in the Heat. Its been widely accepted as a good structure considering that we have a time limit (we have to get through 4 rounds of play in 4 1/2 hours so that we don't impact the ME). If we didn't have that time limit, there would be room to provide more playability in the structure. |

Chips: 1,081 | | | Re: Lone Star Roundup Heads-up Event Structure In April 2007, Dr. Lecterr drew the defending champ mrticsay in the 1st round of the Atlanta meetup. The Dr won that match after being AI bad twice and catching the cards he needed. He proceeded to defeat three others (including jojo and ddollevoet, on his way to the title.
In April 2008 at the Texas meetup, Dr. Lecterr and mrticsay found themselves facing each other in the 1st round again. mrticsay won that match with the deck hitting him the whole way.
So the Dr and mrt had a rubber match at the Texas meetup. At stake was some cash, the Darien/Ticsay HU Travelling Trophy and trash talking rights. The turning point was mrt's AK besting the Dr's QQ and mrticsay went on to win.
Look for more from these two in the future. |
