After perfecting my PNY tourney set, i can't decide on how long the blind levels should be. I am thinking 20 min is the standard but might take a little long as the group likes fast games no longer than 3 hrs each. 15 min levels are a possibility that i am gravitating towards, but what about 12 min levels? I have contemplated 10 min levels, but think that they are a bit too fast.
What do you guys recommend and use for your tourneys?
15 is good for a longer game. 20 will take forever but is good if thats what you want...Id go for 12 if your trying to get more games in. 10 is a whorehouse.
I'll be the dissenting voice that says 20mins is the MINIMUM length you should have blind levels IMHO. I prefer more like 30mins but then I don't much care for turbos in live play so that's just me. Also, I'd rather play 1 longer tournament rather then 2 shorter, turbos but that's just me.
I just find that with rounds less then 20mins, you tend to not even make a full orbit sometimes which seems to irritate me. I rather have longer rounds, shorter stacks and more aggressive blinds rather then more rounds, bigger stacks, slower blind progressions.
We shorten the time for blinds once it's down to three or heads up, plus we can have a dealer by that time, and another help with shuffle up the other deck.
After looking back at some old Tournament Structure threads, I thought about using different blind levels for my 2 tourney sets.
For my T3000 set, i will use 20 min blind levels and maybe drop the 25/25 level? So it's better to have longer, but less levels than shorter, but more levels?
And for my T5000 set, i will use the same structure, but 15 min blind levels.
