just got a buddy a new poker genie. about to input final schedule. would like to hear thoughts on one schedule versus the other.
discuss, pros & cons, comments, suggestions...
30min rounds
20min rounds
graphs are just a visual of the blind progressions.
we currently use the 20 min schedule but thinking of switching to the 30 min version after seeing the consistent blind increases and it having a higher patience factor. |

I was even able to convince the guys at work to use it at our last home game: Blind Structure - World Poker Tour
For this schedule, 20 minutes works fine, but 30 minutes takes too long, especially
at the end. I could see doing 30 minutes for the first two levels, then switching
to 20 minutes.
And you're a sissy if you even think about complaining of the antes. |

Mostly b/c they like to play as many games a possible during a session, notwithstanding that there is a cash game in between tourneys if we're playing MTT. Myself, I like longer blinds. My STT is 20m, and that is mostly b/c I play on a weeknight and need to end the game within 4 hours, and I don't think 30m blinds would allow for that. |

We do 15 or 20 minute levels for a table of 7ish, but thats because we want 3 hours for a tournament and 3 hours for a cash game to follow. |

The last event had 18 players and ran a hair over 5hours $5000 starting stacks and 25 minute blind levels | Level | Small | Big | | 1 | 25 | 50 | | 2 | 50 | 100 | | 3 | 75 | 150 | | 4 | 100 | 200 | | 5 | 150 | 300 | | 6 | 200 | 400 | | 7 | 300 | 600 | | 8 | 400 | 800 | | 9 | 600 | 1200 | | 10 | 800 | 1600 | | 11 | 1000 | 2000 | | 12 | 1500 | 3000 | | 13 | 2000 | 4000 | | 14 | 2500 | 5000 | | 15 | 3000 | 6000 | | 16 | 4000 | 8000 | | 17 | 5000 | 10000 | | 18 | 6000 | 12000 |
For the 2007 season we had really long games - 5+ hours for 10-12 players using this structure $10k starting stacks Levels are all 30 minutes | Level | Ante | Small | Big | | 1 | 0 | 25 | 50 | | 2 | 0 | 50 | 100 | | 3 | 0 | 75 | 150 | | 4 | 0 | 100 | 200 | | 5 | 50 | 200 | 400 | | 6 | 50 | 300 | 600 | | 7 | 100 | 400 | 800 | | 8 | 100 | 600 | 1200 | | 9 | 200 | 800 | 1600 | | 10 | 200 | 1000 | 2000 | | 11 | 300 | 1500 | 3000 | | 12 | 500 | 2000 | 4000 | | 13 | 500 | 2500 | 5000 | | 14 | 500 | 3000 | 6000 | | 15 | 1000 | 4000 | 8000 | | 16 | 1000 | 5000 | 10000 | | 17 | 1000 | 6000 | 12000 |
Again this struture resulted in marathon sessions but I thought were a lot of fun and took uber patience.
For the record I missed the first game of the '08 season but in speaking with Erik he said the new structure is better for larger fields.
Just my $.02
