After reading MetalSlug3's article on his T20,000 structure found here,
http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/tourna...8-players.html, I modified my existing structure around his. What I'd been using had been frustrating me for awhile and his article was the perfect motivation for me to change it up.
The chip breakdown I used is;
12 - $25
12 - $100
7 - $500
5 - $1,000
This worked out great for setup as it was 3 stacks of 12. I then, of course, made sure I had chips for color-ups to remove the $25s and $100s. For rebuys I gave 5 $1K chips and 1 $5K chip.
My blind structure was;
20 minute levels (we used 16 minutes the 2nd game, but it felt way too fast), 25 minutes would also work if you want it a little slower.
1 -- 25 - 50
2 -- 50 - 100
3 -- 100 - 200
Break
4 -- 150 - 300
5 -- 200 - 400
6 -- 250 - 500
Break --- Race off T25
7 -- 300 - 600
8 -- 400 - 800
9 -- 500 - 1000
Break
10 -- 600 - 1200
11 -- 800 - 1600
12 -- 1000 - 2000
Break --- Race off T100
13 -- 1500 - 3000
14 -- 2000 - 4000
15 -- 2500 - 5000
Let me say, first, that I plan on adjusting this slightly. I'm going to remove the 250-500 level and then race off the 25s at the end of level 4. This would get those chips out a little earlier (it felt like they were in there way too long) and provide a more reasonable cap on rebuys. I may put in a 700-1400 level, but I'm still thinking about it. Also, I think I'll just remove the breaks from my Poker Ace PTD (which I love...for the most part). We pretty much take a break when everybody agrees, usually about every hour and a half, and the smokers just jump out real quick when they're not in a hand.
When all was said and done, the structure worked out great. It created a lot more action and "proper" play. My players valued their chips and their hands a great deal more. They also stopped chasing like the river was a guaranteed money pit. These were the things that had been frustrating me so much.
After we were done, I asked everybody what they thought of the new structure. I got positive comments all around, so I feel really good about it.
OK, since I know someone's going to ask...
I won the first game

and took 3rd (just outside the money) on the second

I'd love to hear your comments, criticism, and advice.
