Need Help with Blinds Different Starting Stacks

27 players, League championship, starting stacks are based on year long performance,
low stack is at $7,100 high stack is $17,100,
chip avg. is $12,700, total chips in play is $345,000.

I have enough $100, $500, $1,000 and $5,000 chips to cover tourney.

I would like the tourney to last approx. 6 hours.
With the avg stack of $12,700
I was thinking of something like this:
25 min. rounds
100/200
200/400
300/600
400/800
500/1,000
800/1,600 (color out $100)
1,000/2,000
1,500/3,000
2,000/4,000(color out $500)
3,000/6,000
4,000/8,000
5,000/10,000
8,000/16,000
10,000/20,000
15,000/30,000 ** (6 hour mark) **
20,000/40,000
30,000/60,000

Any suggestions?

Werny

Re: Need Help with Blinds Different Starting Stacks

With a deepstacked tourney with uneven stacks, you are going to need antes, otherwise the play will be super tight as the big stacks wait out the small stacks.

Cut the blinds to 20 min, start with
100/200 then
100/200/25
150/300/50 New level
200/400/50
etc, continue on with your structure

Keep the ante to 1/3 to 1/4 of the small blind. It will smooth out the play and generate action, keeping the tourney from degenerating into an allin fest.

Re: Need Help with Blinds Different Starting Stacks

A good guideline to determine what level the tourney will likely end at is take the total number of chips in play and divide by 50. Meaning when there's 50 big blinds in play, the tourney would more than likely end at that level.

$345,000 / 50 = 6900

Therefore the tourney would prolly last about 4000/8000.

With in inclusion of antes (which I also think is a good idea) it will make it finish slightly quicker. I might suggest lengthening the blind levels.

Also, you could add a level.

500/1,000
600/1,200
800/1,600

Re: Need Help with Blinds Different Starting Stacks

I rather keep $25 chips out of the structure.
Antes add confusion to some, we have tried.

Re: Need Help with Blinds Different Starting Stacks

1 100 - 200 30
2 200 - 400 30
3 300 - 600 30
4 400 - 800 30
5 600 - 1200 30
6 800 - 1600 30
7 1000 - 2000 30
8 1500 - 3000 30
9 2000 - 4000 30
10 3000 - 6000 30
11 4000 - 8000 -

10 levels are 5 hours long, maybe add a 100-100 because with 100-200 the smallstack has just around 35 bb.

Re: Need Help with Blinds Different Starting Stacks

My personal preference is to start the average stack with about 75-100bb. To do that the big blind has to be about 100 or 150. So here's my suggestion:
Round-Small-Big
1 - 75-150
2 - 100 - 200
3 - 150 - 300
4 - 200 - 400
5 - 300 - 600
6 - 400 - 800
7 - 500 - 1000
8 - 600 - 1200
9 - 800 - 1600
10 - 1000 - 2000
11 - 1500 - 3000
12 - 2000 - 4000
13 - 3000 - 6000
14 - 4000 - 8000
15 - 5000 - 10000
16 - 6000 - 12000
17 - 8000 - 16000
18 - 10000 - 20000

With 25min blinds it should end right around the 6hr mark.

If you really dont watn to use 25's then i suggest:
Round - Small - Big
1 - 100 - 200
2 - 200 - 300
3 - 200 - 400
4 - 300 - 600
5 - 400 - 800
6 - 500 - 1000
7 - 600 - 1200
8 - 800 - 1600
9 - 1000 - 2000
10 - 1500 - 3000
11 - 2000 - 4000
12 - 3000 - 6000
13 - 4000 - 8000
14 - 5000 - 10000
15 - 6000 - 12000
16 - 8000 - 16000
18 - 10000 - 20000

Again with 25min rounds.

I hope this helps, also please note that the general rule of thumb is the tournament will end when 4% of the chips in play are in the blinds, so I suggest the tournament will end at around the 6000-12000 level or the 8000-16000 level.

I hope this is useful
Regards
Ian

No way. If the stacks are even 3 way each person would have over 110k which is an approx m of almost 10. heads up 170k each, m>14

Tourneys generally don't end until there are 20-30 BB in play.
345000/20 = 17250

It's gonna end right around about the 8000/16000 level.
