Chips: 1,202 | | | I need help on moving player between table I have a tourney about 3 to 4 table with 10 player each table.
How do you move player to another table to even out?
Example table one has 10 so is table two table. Table 3 is down to 6 players. How do I move one of each players from table 1 and 2 to 3? What seat will they be on table 3?
Please help...... |

If you go to homepokertourney.com ( HERE) and scroll down a bit, you'll see on the left sidebar a link for seating. Print it and read it several times -- at least it took me a couple times through.
If there is going to be a move, have that table stop play and the other tables stop play as well at the conclusion of their hand. Look to see what position the knocked out player was going to be in the next hand -- say one behind the dealer. Take that same person from the table with too many players and move him/her into the spot at the table needing a player to balance the numbers.
If you're staring with 4 tables, I'd personally continue this process until you are at 22 players remaing on 3 tables, then redraw for new seats at the final two tables. I know others don't like this way, but it's easy. Then when you're down to 11 players between the two tables, you draw again. It does happen that somebody draws a blind position twice but it's very rare in my experience.
Finally, if you are playing and trying to run 4 tables w/o a lot of experience, that's very tough to do. You might consider running the show and not playing for a couple games until you feel more confident about the process -- even then, it helps to have others on board with the process so they can help (that's jojo's job at my home game!). Whatever you do, be consistent, tell people upfront "This is the way I do it and I understand the Casinos might do it different, but this is not the Casino, it's my home and this is the way I run my game." It took me a while to feel confident enough to do this, but it really is necessary -- there are always some who want to run the show for you.
Best of luck. |

Best of luck. | Great advice. Especially about not playing the first time with a 4 table tourney. Software can help you out, the Tournament Director software works great, but there's an investment in time to learn how to use it.
The good news: it gets easier. Both because you get better at it and because your players get better too. If you are going to play and direct, it's very helpful to have several players who can act as sub-TD's as well.

Chips: 1,898 | | | Re: I need help on moving player between table When moving players between tables, I take the shortest stack. I like to keep the chip amounts at the tables pretty close. If you do it randolmly, you run the risk of pulling most of the chips off the table, if you happen to move the chip leader from one table a couple of times. I determine which player to move and where like this, I assign each table a rank. Like A,B,C and D. A will be my final table and D would be my first to break. I determine this by table size and location. So if for instance, if I had 9 payers at A, B, and C and 10 at D and then A and C lost a player at the same time, I would move the shortest stack from D to table A. Also, instead of using A, B, C and D. You can use Spades, Hearts, Diamonds and Clubs. If you are running a 4 table or smaller tournament, use an old deck of cards. Put the king of each suit on the table you want it to correspond with. Then take the Ace - 10(if you are having 10 at each table to start with) of each suit and mix them all up. Let them pull a card when the buy their chips and that will be their seat. Ace deals. |

Chips: 137 | | | Re: I need help on moving player between table I run some charity tournaments and I move the player(s) with the shortest stacks and move them to a table where they would be in a similar seating position as they were in. Moving the short stack is easy to determine and that player usually wants to move because he's obviously not having luck at his table. This system has worked very well for me. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
