Chips: 155 | | | 4k Starting Stack -- Rebuys -- 30 people -- 3-4 hours This is a blind schedule which we use at our tournaments. The tournaments last on average 3 1/2 hours. There are usually three tables of either 8 or 9 people. We allow unlimited rebuys for the first two hours.
The game is interesting because on average there is two games; the first two hour game and then the game which starts after the rebuy period ends. It actually works out well because it allows anyone to play for a couple hours and have fun. The buy-in is usually $20 so a couple rebuys isn't a lot. But it ends up really playing (moneywise) like a $40-$60 buyin tournament. This works great for the people who do not have much experience because one mistake doesn't send them home in five minutes.
Time SB BB
30 25 50
30 50 100
30 100 200
30 200 400
20 Minute Break (chip up remove $25)
20 400 800
20 800 1500
20 1500 3000
20 3000 6000
20 6000 12000
20 12000 20000
20 20000 40000
20 40000 80000
It may look like at first glance the blinds after the break are very aggressive. However, with all the rebuys there are usually 2 to 3 times the starting chip stack in play. So, there is actually a lot of room for maneuvering left. |

IMO, if the tourney works for you, who to say to disagree.
The only thing I would change is color up the T25 after the 3rd level not 4 level.
Thanks for sharing. |

Thanks for sharing. | Yeah, the $25 is out play quickly, but it just makes it easier to remove it at the break so play isn't stopped. Chipping up is just a PITA anyway. |

To eliminate 29 people in 1.5 hours must turn the tourney into an allin fest after the rebuys end. 29 people, 90 min = 1 bust out every 3 min. |

Chips: 241 | | | Re: 4k Starting Stack -- Rebuys -- 30 people -- 3-4 hours after first glance, second glance, and 3rd glance, the blinds are still to aggressive. Instead of 2 tourney's, how about 1 slower tourney, limited rebuys, then low stakes cash game for the players that bust out?
Like it was said though, if this works for you, have at it.

You have to understand the makeup of the players. There are quite a few people who have never played more than once or twice in their life. And then you have the people who are serious or semi-serious. It isn't an average of of 12k, its more like 1/2 with 4k and the rest stacked with 20k. (Want to guess who has which stack?).
That's the reason for the unlimited rebuys. It gives those who have never played some time to play and have fun. But when the rebuy period is over then the mistakes are equivalent to tourney life. In the first hour after the rebuy period 99% of the brand new players go home. |
