Your First Blind Structure

When I look back at what I used to do for blinds, I just think I was a complete idiot! I just used to hand out 50 chips any color; they are all worth 1. blinds are 1-2. They went up 1-2 everytime when someone went out. The games were actually pretty lenghty at the end because the blinds didn't quite make it to 4%. LOL! Anyone else have some crazy first blind structures?

Re: Your First Blind Structure

Nothing too crazy -- just that we used to run a pretty strict 2 hour game. With starting starts of 30K + and 18 people the blind times doubled every 10-12 minutes in order to be done. Now we've grown in a much slower progression and understand it will be 3-4 hour game -- much more relaxed.

Re: Your First Blind Structure

I guess the biggest change was getting rid of small denom chips and starting the blinds at 25/25. Reducing colour ups was a huge benefit. Next step was introducing antes.

Re: Your First Blind Structure

I remember the first tourney we played in our home game. It was so bad. We started with stacks of T1000 and 5/10 blinds. Tons of chips too. 20 x 5, 20 x 25, 4 x 100. We only raised the blinds when somebody got knocked out. It went on for hours on end. No coloring up either. Absolute goofiness.

Re: Your First Blind Structure

When I first got my hot-stamped Nexgen "bees" set(s) - both cash and tourney denominations - I wanted to get all the denominations in play, so we had a T1000 tournament starting at 1/2 where the blinds doubled (or slightly more than that) every 15 minutes.

1/2
2/5
*break*
5/10
10/25
*break*
25/50
50/100
*break*
100/200
200/500
*break*
500/1000
1000/2000

Starting stacks were 10x1, 10x2, 9x5, 10x10, 9x25, 6x100, and 0x500... with colour-ups every 2 levels. Actually, it worked out pretty well. Oh, and I only had enough room (and chairs) for 6 players in my tiny bachelor apartment. And used DDPoker's built-in poker clock software. Ah, those were the days!
