Chips: 5 | | | I think I need alot of chips..... I have found so much information, I can't keep where the right place to post this is, so I'll try it here. I play in a bi-monthly tourny of 50 people. Usually a few of the guys all bring their sets of chips. Unfortunately, not everyone has the same thing, which turns into a mess. Not to mention problems with coloring up, and does everyone their chips, and blah, blah, blah. I want to put a set of chips together for this game. I will probably get ( don't blast me) a cheaper set, because I have seen so many nice chips on this forum, I want a new nice set for my home games of 8 people. So, if I wanted to put together a set to accomadate 50-60 people, how many chips, and how many color breakdowns, I would really appreciate it. I am jut amazed by what I have seen and read on this forum. I will have to actually start playing more poker, just to have a reason for more chips. Thanks in advance. |

12x T25 green
7x T100 black
4x T500 purple
2x T1000 yellow
25 chips worth 5,000
You would need
720 green, 420+ black, 276+ purple, 300 yellow
You use the 500 chips to color-up the 25s, and the 1000 chips to color up the 100s and later, the 500s |

Chips: 3,465 | | | Re: I think I need alot of chips..... I'll assume that for 50~60 players you'll have starting stacks around 3k to 5k.
3k:
8x 25
8x 100
4x 500
5k:
8x 25
8x 100
4x 500
2x 1000
So:
60x the previous numbers:
480 xT25
480 xT100
240 xT500
120 xT1000
We'll need some chips to color up (rough estimate, you can cut this down a bit if you do the math).
60x T5000
50x T1000
20x T500
You probably don't need any extra T100 chips, but it wouldn't hurt to have a few extra lying around just in case. You're looking at a set around 1500 chips or so.
Don't forget to buy cards for all those chips as well
Usually, discountcasinogear.com has pretty good prices for cheap/decent chips (sopranos). Start there and shop around. |

Chips: 14 | | | Re: I think I need alot of chips..... If you buy faux clays (which a lot of people here really like, and cost only a nickel each), you can run a T200 tourney with standard casino colors. The only colors left are red, white, and green, which are perfect for 1, 5, and 25 respectively. Additionally, since the tournament involves presumably 6 tables you can probably find some black faux clays (for T100 chips, used to color up at later stages of the tournament) for sale here. |

I've thought about these myself.

On Chiptalk, the rule of thumb is "If you think you need more chips, then you need more chips."
