Re: Help with 30 Person Tourney

Thanks for all the help. I do not intend to use outside dealers. Most of the participants will be friends. In the past we've had 12 to 16 person tournaments with the same group without any problems. When people bust out, they often offer to deal.

Mayve I should look into some software. I did not think of that.

The number of chips is starting to concern me. I've got 1,000 super diamonds, and 1,000 NJ Skulls. Not sure either set will work. I'm in the process of ordering some customs from BCC, and I know that set won't work.

Thanks.

Re: Help with 30 Person Tourney

post your existing super diamonds quantities. they are pretty cheap so it should not be too hard to add on to those.

Re: Help with 30 Person Tourney

Let me say this. This site is fantastic. I really appreciate everyone's help.

I left the NJs at a friends house last month. We had a bachelor party. He'll be at the tournament. I don't think that set will work, however. I got it 1.5 years ago through pokersource and I didn't put much thought into the chip breakdown.

Same problem with the super diamonds. I got way too many different colors.

I wish I could be a set of faux clays together for this tournament, but looks like they are down to only 3 colors.

Maybe I'll just supplement the super diamonds, so that it matches your structure.

Got to run.

Thanks again for all your help.

Re: Help with 30 Person Tourney

With 30 players you can get away with less that 1000 chips including full colour up's:

Starting Stack:
25 x 8
100 x 8
500 x 4
1000 x 7

Colour Up's
25's 60 x 100
100's 30 x 1000
500's 12 x 5000
1000's 48 x 5000

Total Required
240 x 25's
300 x 100's (add 10 extra's for colour up's)
120 x 500's
240 x 1000's (add 10 extra's for colour up's)
60 x 5000's (add 10 extra's for colour up's)
Total 960 (990 for extra's for colour up's)

Regards
Ian

Any recommendations on a structure? Also, how many chips should I bring, assuming color ups?
Here's my 30-player T2000 starting at 5/10:
http://individual.utoronto.ca/jdunford/CPT/CPT-S3.pdf
(see last page, although they're basically the same; use 10-10-7-2 starting stacks for 30 players with my chip set breakdown)
I've never actually had 30 players show up, but if I did, I wouldn't shorten the levels towards the middle/end like that - I just do that for smaller #'s so the heads-up portion doesn't drag out too long. Just adjust the length of blind levels so it ends when you need it to.

I've got a set of hot-stamped Nexgen "Bees" for sale that'll do 30 player tourneys for relatively cheap:

my structure
25

50
50 100 -
100 200 -
150 300 25
200 400 50
300 600 75
Race-off
400 800 100
500 1000 100
600 1200 200
800 1600 200
1000 2000 300
1200 2400 400
Race-off
1500 3000 500
2000 4000 500
2500 5000 500
Race-off
3000 6000 1000
4000 8000 1000
5000 10000 1000

with 30 minute levels about 10 hours

8 X 25
8 X 100
8 X 500
5 X 1000
= 10000
colorup the 25s with 100s
the 100 with 1000, so you dont need that much 500s, if neccessary make a change of 1000s to get a few 500s to color up
color up the 500 with 5000 and same procedure with 1000s coloring up
so you dont need such a big chip set : 240 X 25/300 X 100/240 X 500/ 180 X 1000/ 24 X 5000
