Hello CT, I'm meeting up with some family a haven't seen in ages in a week or so & I want to get a tourney going on one of the nights. I've only played the odd cash game lately so your help would be appreciated.
Bankroll:
100x5 Red
100x25 Green
100x100 Black
or
100x5 Red
100x25 Green
50x100 Black
40x500 lavender
10xGrey 1000
I rekon maybe for 7 or 8 players, I'm taking smaller denoms just in case we end up playing a cash game. So what would be the best breakdowns & blind structure?
I have 40 Lavender 500 & 40 Grey 1000's in total.
Many thanks
Rob
If you want to try and estimate the finish then tourney's usually end when the SB+BB = 6%-10% of the total chips on the table. i.e 8 player T1000 = 10%*8000 = 800 (6%= 480) = roughly earky finish at 150-300 and later finish at 300-600. For me it seems a pretty reliable method. Just alter the blind length to suit.
If it's just a tourney night and people aren't experienced players then it can pay off to have say 2- 2 hour tourneys. Yes the skill level is reduced but it's a good way to make sure people get a fair play in the night and get used to tourney format.
so far the suggestions are good. i'd take set two and do:
10x5
6x25
3x100
3x500
T2000
blinds:
10/20 20 mins
20/40 20 mins
30/60 20 mins
40/80 20 mins
break 10 mins
60/120 20 mins
80/160 20 mins
120/240 20 mins
160/320 20 mins
break 10 mins / color up 5's and 25's
200/400 15 mins
300/600 15 mins
400/800 10 mins
600/1200 10 mins
1000/2000 10 mins
