Some help w/ 8 person SNG

I want to work an 8 person SNG (lasting around 3 hours) using the following denominations: 5-25-100. Now, I want to do this with about 225 chips. I'd really appreciate any good structure/breakdown advice if this is possible given the amount of chips.

Re: Some help w/ 8 person SNG

t5 x 5
t25 x 7
t100 x 8
t1000 20 chips

20 min levels
5/10
10/20
20/40
40/80
80/160
120/240
160/320
color up 5's & 25's
200/400
400/800
800/1600 should end here 3 hours if not sooner
1200/2400 just in case
1500/3000 yeah right...

need:
40 x 5's
60 x 25's
100 x 100's
500 x 20
and that leaves 5 extra chips (you have 4 extra t25's already)

Re: Some help w/ 8 person SNG

as an aside to above, you could add 1 t500 to the starting stack or just leave them out of the set entirely, as you'll likely never see the 1500/3000 level with only 8k chips in play or even 12k total chips (8xt1500) in play. if it were me i'd just get extra chips of the lower and make it a ten man playable set w/ 250 total chips:

60 x t5
80 x t25
110 x t100

Re: Some help w/ 8 person SNG

Thanks for the reply... your blinds seem to escalate pretty quickly there, plus some short stacks (only used about 160, saving rest for color ups? EDIT: Yah I see you did that). And you added 500's at your bottom tally? EDIT: Your second reply explains that. I dont know if people could get by with only 5 T5's in your blind progression early on...

I've been working on this:

How about if I had a T500 giving each person 15xT5, 13xT25, 1xT100 = 29 chips for each person and needing only 235 chips total (obviously no color ups).

Blind progression looking something like (15-20 minute levels):
5/10
10/20
15/30
25/50
30/60
40/80
50/100
75/150
100/200

Does this sound like something feasible?

Re: Some help w/ 8 person SNG

I think you could do a T1000 for 8 players and color up the T5s as desired with a set of 220 chips:

80 x T5
80 x T25
60 x T100

Use starting stack of 10-10-7 for T1000. Your blind schedule or any other that starts 5/10 would do fine.

That leaves 4 extra T100 chips which can be used to do a trickle-down color-up of all the T5 chips. (That is, use the T100s to buy T25s as needed to buy off the T5s.) You could do that after your 40/80 level, say.

It might be cumbersome to play an entire tourney with all the T5s in play, esp. at later levels when you need to handle all-ins.

You could also throw in 20 more chips of T500 value if you wanted the ability to have a rebuy, if you are able to accommodate a set of 240 chips.

Re: Some help w/ 8 person SNG

okay one more shot...

10 x t5 = 50
10 x t25= 250
2 x t100= 100
22 chips t500

5/10
10/20
20/30
30/60
40/80
60/120
80/160
100/200 my guess it ends here
125/250
150/300
200/400

need:

80 x 5
100 x 25
40 x 100
and you can color up (which as you can tell i likey)

Re: Some help w/ 8 person SNG

T1000

10 X T5
10 X T25
7 X T100

blinds go:
5-10
10-20
15-30
20-40
30-60
50-100
75-150
100-200
150-300<--- should end about here.
200-400
300-600

20 minute levels should last about 3 hours.

Good luck with the new setup!

Grrrrr... you beat me to it! I was just about to recommend this exact breakdown.

In addition, instead of the "trickle-down" approach to colouring up, you could have the big stack buy up everyone's T5 chips, then exchange them for T100s (directly), and you just need to race off the odd T5s. Since you were looking at 225 chips, you can probably do this with just 5 x T25 in most cases (or exchange 1 or 2 x T100 for T25s to do a mini-trickle-down if you must).

Re: Some help w/ 8 person SNG

Thanks a lot fellas.. I really like the 10-10-7 format and breakdown. It seems like it will work out great. Plus, I get to use more 100 chips, which are killer looking chips. I am buying a tourney set of the custom Epiphany line designed by Maegnus and I couldn't afford a whole lot since I just spent most of my money on a cash game set of Pharaohs (first nice set). So I appreciate it... I really love ceramics and clay, so I had to get one set of each.
