Complete crap shot or acceptable due to time restraints?
Hey
This is the latest task I've been asked to do:
40man tournament to start at 8pm and finnish at 12.30. My first thought is it cant be done (bar double the blinds every 15min) but then I sat back and thought about it for a while. I know shoot-outs go faster than normal tournaments so this is what I came up with:
T5000 starting stack
8 Players per table
15min blind levels:
25-50
50-100
100-200
150-300
200-400
300-600
400-800
600-1200
800-1600 (Probably ends here (2.5hr including a 15min break)
1000-2000
1500-3000
2000-4000 (Ends at the latest (3.15hr including a 15min break)
Final Table
5 Players
T80000 Starting Stack
15min Blind Levels:
1000-2000
1500-3000
2000-4000
3000-6000
4000-8000
6000-12000 (Should End Here (1.5hr no break))
8000-16000
10000-20000
15000-30000
20000-40000 (Must End Here (2.5hr no break))
I think its the closest thing i can get to a decent tournament given the time restrictions. Also I know the final table starts a little short stacked (It should start at 800-1600) but I didn't want to put 100's on the table for just 1 level.
Re: Complete crap shot or acceptable due to time restraints?
Given the time restraints, it is perfectly reasonable. I would even be tempted to start everyone with only 50 big blinds, and make the levels 20 min long, with the first level 50-100. You could also get rid of the 800-1600 level if you wanted to, but it looks like you have things planned out okay, and can keep both of these levels in. 8-handed play should be able to get a round in in 15 minutes, unless you have some slowpokes.
