Hi Everyone!

In about a month I'll be hosting a "couples" Texas Hold'em night. I've done this a couple times before and I'm always amazed how many ladies enjoy & WANT to play (yet they don't come to the monthly games). I thought I'd ask the fine members of CT for some creative/fun/weird ideas for the game. Could be structure, prizes, goofy twists, whatever. I'm open to anything...well, pretty much.

Here's what I have so far:

1:30 - 2:30 Open bar on the back deck
2:30 - 3:00 short tutorial for any who need help learning how to play
3:30 - 3:45 Get the women to stop talking and sit down to play
3:45 - 4:00 Intro, talk about prizes, structure, not too heavy, but the basics
4:00 - 6:00 Play ball
6:00 - 6:30 Break to eat (I'm making it a pot-luck)
6:30 - 6:45 Get the women to stop talking and sit down to play
6:45 - 8:45 Play ball
8:45 - 9:00 Drink break/stretch
9:00 - 10:30ish finish up

OK, let me know, change things up, be fun...prize ideas?

First one out owes their spouse 30 minutes of favors....so it would probably end up with the woman choosing for the guy to clean the floors and the guy would choose to get a morning lollipop...hehehe.

I did the exact same thing a couple years ago, I noticed that some of the girls really didnt want to play, but the girls who did made them sit down and play....that didn't go well because they would talk incessantly during the whole game and had to be prompted to play nearly every time it was their turn. If I run the same thing again....rule #1 you don't wanna play, fine...but don't talk to people who are playin! Seems harsh, but everyone is going to talk anyways, if you could keep some of that chatter out of the game, everyone would have a better time!

Here is another suggestion, give a prize for the highest finishing couple- avg thier finish places together and the one with the highest avg wins something- $10 Gift Card, or something along that line

I've had girls play occasionally and they seemed to love knocking someone out so I incorperated some bounty chips which were a Huge hit with the ladies. They get even more satisfaction of knocking people out than the guys do. (I think its because they feel like the underdog). I agree with the highest couple average getting a prize idea too.

I do understand Captn, but I'll have to relax on this one and I will be clear with those that play to be VERY understanding & we are not playing a normal competitive monthly game.

OK, sounds good, but in fairness, what should the woman do for the man that busts her?
