A friend of mine runs a 6 man tournament once in a while and I was looking for some feedback. Here's how it works...
3 qualifying tournaments to earn points. These points translate into chips for the money round at the end. Final payout is 40%-40%-20%.
Does this make sense to any of you? I know it is his game, but this seems silly that half the players cash and there is no difference between 1st and 2nd.
With only six players you may as well give second place their buy-in back and the winner takes the rest. Anything else just seem wrong to me.

Six players total, single buy-in (usually $50) for the entire tourney. Generally the same 4 or 5 play with a few alternates who fill the sixth spot. We try to run two or three each time we get together.
I suggested today that we go to a 3-2-1 payout structure. This will make the game a little more aggressive, but still keep it close to how he has it setup now.
Most importantly, I don't want to mess with someone's home game considering that they are gracious enough to host, buy chips, make a table, etc.
