Chips: 642 | | | T5000 structure 8-10Players 4hrs max. hi...
i want to host a small T5000 Tournament today with 8-10 players.
The tournament shouldn´t last longer than 3.5 to 4 hours, because we want to go out after. There will be no rebuys or addons.
A lot of the players are quite new to the game, so it should start smooth, that they can play a while without getting too much pressure.
And after the field gets narrow the blinds should be bigger that the others dont have to wait too long. I am not a really big fan of such fast, luck-shot tournaments, but for one time i will give it a try.
Do you think this structure seems sufficient?
The first three levels will be 30 min. the rest only 20min..
1 25 50
2 50 100
3 75 150
4 200 400
5 300 600
6 500 1000
7 1000 2000
8 2500 5000
9 2500 5000...
What are your opinions?! |

What are your opinions?! | Holy crap....75/150 to 200/400 and then 1000/2000 to 2500/2500. I guess if you want to get done fast this will do the trick.
Here's what I use with when we have a T5000 tourney. We've done it a handful of times with 8 players, 20 minutes/level, it's lasted more than 4 hours once:
25/50
50/75
75/150
100/200
150/300
Break/Color-Up
200/400
300/600
400/800
600/1200
800/1600
Break/Color-Up
1000/2000
1500/2000
2000/4000
2500/5000
3000/6000 |

This one makes the jumps a lot bigger, but that's what they want, is something that will be over in 4 hrs.
25/50
50/100
10 min break color up 25s
100/200
200/400
5 min break
400/800
800/1600
5 min break color up 100s & 500s
1000/2000
2000/4000
4000/8000 |

there is another level between level 3 and 4.... it is 150 300 .
i think i will try to get it a little softer in the higher levels.
Thanks for your help so far.
Tomorrow i will post what came out at the end and if it was "playable"! |

I think this will still last between 4-5 hours. We escalate our blinds towards the end. It does make it a little bit more of a luckfest, but the people who make it to the final 3-4 have earned their way there and know that they can't stop being agressive once they get there. To me, it's more important to make the earlier levels more gradual and slower--that way people get more play for their money, and the more skilled players have a chance to make plays or overcome bad beats. By the time it gets to the end, you don't want it to be a grind fest.
Flatten the pay scale, too, if you don't want folks grinding it out because of the difference in place money. |

5000 X 10 players = 50,000 X 4% = 2000 (game should end with BB at about 2000).
I would use the following blinds:
25-50
50-100
75-150
100-200
150-300
200-400
300-600
400-800
600-1200
800-1600
1000-2000 <--- should end here.
1500-3000
2000-4000
Should last about 11 blind levels. Levels 1-2 ~ 30 minutes. Levels 3-5 ~ 20 minutes. Levels 6-9 ~ 15 minutes. And 10 minutes thereafer. This game will last approximentally 3 hours 20 minutes. |

Chips: 642 | | | Re: T5000 structure 8-10Players 4hrs max. Hi guys...
the game yesterday worked quite well (for me: more the planning and organization than my play )!
We used this structure: 1 25 50
2 50 100
3 75 150
4 150 300
5 200 400
6 300 600
7 500 1000
8 1000 2000
9 2500 5000
10 2500 5000...
The first three level have been 30min. each and the others 20min..
we finished in level six and so we had left some time for a small cash game.
Thanks for your help and comments! |

Chips: 223 | | | Re: T5000 structure 8-10Players 4hrs max. Cool. Glad it worked out with your time constraints. Just out of curiosity, was there a lot of loose play? 2 1/2 hours seems quite quick for the blind schedule you used. Doesn't really matter, just curious. Maybe the guys I play with are uber-tight players...whatever. |

Thanks,

Yes, the Players have been quite loose, since most of them were beginners and don´t know about outs and odds. There have been a lot of loose and often really stupid calls. The worst thing had been, that the stupid calls mostly got lucky at the turn or river . So i have been busted quite early.
At least it was just a small fun tournament with drinking before going to a party.
My regular tournaments use a different structure and last about 5-6 hours with ten players...who are also quite skilled. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
