Odd blind structure?

I'm thinking of getting the Matsui WSOP chips and set up my home game SnG tournaments using the higher denoms ranging from $1.000 to $25.000.
The thing is that I like the $500 chip very much but if I use it I believe I must start with the $100 chips and 100/200 blinds making the range of denoms too wide for each stack.

Is it possible to have the lowest denom start with $500 chips or will it feel odd? Am I stretching the denom range?

Example of structure:

Starting stacks:
15x$500
25x$1.000
20x$5.000
15x$10.000
10x$25.000

Blinds:
500/1000
1000/2000
1500/3000
2000/4000
2500/5000
3000/6000
5000/10000
10000/20000
15000/30000
...

Is this a realistic structure or should I change something?

Thanks!

Re: Odd blind structure?

That's a monster starting stack!!! But it's your house right? Do whatever you want! Just take into account when you want your tourney to end.... another suggestion I have is that after your first blind the 500 chip is redundant...so why not use it as an ante chip later to get some use out of it.

he's got the 1500/3000 in there as level 3.

i would either add an ante at level 4, or just color up the $500's after level 3 and take a break. ditch the 2500/5000 and just make it 3k/6k.

i have a similar structure in mind for my wsops. love the pink chip .

Nice, hadn't thought about the antes, that could help me explain the large starting stacks. Nice to see there are other $500 WSOP chip lovers out there!!

What about the starting stacks, are they ok in size?
Has anybody got a feeling on how many hours this would take with approx 8 people and 15-20 min blind levels?

I agree that you could definitely justify the T500 chip by having antes starting around level 4. As for the starting stacks, 95 chips per player is HUGE! That's nearly 1000 chips on the table for 10 players! I hope you have a very sturdy table with a lot of real estate for all those chips (maybe best to go with some 8g BCCs )! And it'll take forever to colour-up all those T500s and T1000s when you get past level 5 or 6! I prefer somewhere in the 30-50 starting chips per player (on the higher side of that range if there are antes), but that's just me.

Also, your blinds progress reasonably slowly through level 6, then go ballistic after that, right when they start to matter. You might want to smooth that out a bit.

5000/10000
10000/20000
15000/30000
Starting at 2500-5000. The percentage increase goes 20%, 66.6%, 100%, then drops to 50%.

I think a smoother structure would be...
500-1000
1000-2000
1500-3000
2000-4000
3000-6000
4000-8000
6000-12000
8000-16000
10000-20000
15000-30000

Just my opinion. good luck.

Re: Odd blind structure?

If I choose to include the $500 chip, counting the 2-3 blind levels where you need the chip plus the antes, what is an appropriate starting stack of $500 chips?
Will the antes go up after awhile or should the antes stay at $500?
Since all the players are going to pay antes does this mean I need alot of $500 chips or can the players make change between eachother.

Another question: I'm planning on having around 2-3 re-buys in $100.000 chips. Is it appropriate to do it this way and let the re-buyer change his $100.000 chips into smaller denoms, from other players, once he re-buys?

I think the greatest peice of advice concerning antes I ever got was from smoore. Here is basically what he said...give out an even number of ante chips from each player so that they have enough to make one orbit (8 players = 8 ante chips) then when they are the dealer they will scoop the antes and place out the same value in higher denom chips that way they will have enough ante chips to play through the next orbit, and this also keeps one person who scoops a few pots from having to make change with everyone else at the table (8 players w/ T500 ante = T4K in chips dealer scoops the antes and put out 4 T1k chips)

I hope that my explanation make sense.

Oh, you want antes. Usually antes don't start right away; they usually start at level 4 or 5. Also they are raised throughout the structure. They should be 1/3 or 1/4 of the SB.

Blinds and antes should go:
500-1000
1000-2000
1500-3000
2000-4000
2000-4000, 500
3000-6000, 1000
4000-8000, 1000
6000-12000, 1500
8000-16000, 2000
10000-20000, 3000
15000-30000, 5000

EDIT: adjusted blinds and antes.

This may be fine. You should give smaller denomination chips at first so some people actually have chips to make change.
