Chips: 55 | | | My first T10000 Tournament. Blinds and Chip Stack Help Needed I'm in the middle of planning my first tourney and here is what I've come up with so far:
I want to setup a 20 person T10000 NLHE Tournament
$20 buyin / $20 rebuy / $5 bounty
1 rebuy per person per tournament up to the 1st Break
Tournament will last approx. 4 1/2 - 5 hours (I hope not longer) Chips
300 x $25
300 x $100
100 x $500
50 x $1000 50 x $5000
800 chips = $387,500 Starting Stack
12 x $25
12 x $100
3 x $500
2 x $1000 1 x $5000
30 chips = $10,000 20 Minute Blind Structure
50/100
100/200
300/600
BREAK
400/800
500/1000
600/1200
BREAK
800/1600
1000/2000
1500/3000
BREAK
2000/4000
3000/6000
4000/8000
BREAK
5000/10000
6000/12000
8000/16000
Will my current chip set be sufficient?
How does my blind structure look? |

Chips: 1,137 | | | Re: My first T10000 Tournament. Blinds and Chip Stack Help Needed I would start with more chips and drop the $5,000 until later during color ups.
30 chips just makes one feel like they are short stacked from the outset and a $5k chip is useless at the beginning. Your Starting Stack 12 x $25 = $300
12 x $100 = $1200
3 x $500 = $1500
2 x $1000 = $2000 1 x $5000 = $5000
30 chips = $10,000
or
40 x $25 = $1000
30 x $100 = $3000
12 x $500 = $6000
0 x $1000 0 x $5000
82 chips = $10,000 |

Chips: 1,037 | | | Re: My first T10000 Tournament. Blinds and Chip Stack Help Needed Do you really even need the T25 chip in a T10,000 tourney? It looks like you only need it during the first round. You could get rid of that round, start with 100/200, add 200/400 and proceed like you already have.
Starting stacks could be
T100x20=T2000
T500x10=T5000
T1000x3=T3000
That gives each player 33 chips. I know it's fun to have stacks and stacks in front of you. I wouldn't be upset or whatever if I only started a tourney with 30 chips or so....as long as everyone starts with the same I don't see the difference. |

I'm not sure what you intended when you say "rebuy" (unlimited rebuys, or fixed # rebuys per player) so let's assume that you get 20 buy-ins and 20 rebuys (worst case scenario). We want the tourny done in 4.5 hrs, so let's say 14 levels (20 min per level). Code: Stack:10000
Levels: 14
Players: 40
Start Blinds: 25
Smallest Chip: 25
Suggested End Blind: 15000
SB BB M Inc.
25 50 133.33 1
50 100 66.67 2
75 150 44.44 1.5
100 200 33.33 1.33
150 300 22.22 1.5
200 400 16.67 1.33
300 600 11.11 1.5
500 1000 6.67 1.67
800 1600 4.17 1.6
1500 3000 2.22 1.88
3000 6000 1.11 2
5000 10000 0.67 1.67
8000 16000 0.42 1.6
15000 30000 0.22 1.88 You can cut out the 75/150 and 150/300 levels for break time.
If you started with 100/200 blinds to begin with: Code: Stack:10000
Levels: 12
Players: 40
Start Blinds: 100
Smallest Chip: 100
Suggested End Blind: 15000
SB BB M Inc.
100 200 33.33 1
200 400 16.67 2
300 600 11.11 1.5
500 1000 6.67 1.67
800 1600 4.17 1.6
1000 2000 3.33 1.25
1500 3000 2.22 1.5
2000 4000 1.67 1.33
3000 6000 1.11 1.5
5000 10000 0.67 1.67
8000 16000 0.42 1.6
15000 30000 0.22 1.88

Chips: 2,986 | | | Re: My first T10000 Tournament. Blinds and Chip Stack Help Needed A lot of people have been asking for help with T10,000 tourneys lately. My advice is always to have a look at the WSOP Main Event structure (as far as blinds are concerned). You can get to it from here: http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/ev...?eventid=36507
Personally, I like to have antes with my T10,000... otherwise, I'd might as well run a T1,000-T2,000 all the time. That's where the T25 chips will come in handy. I agree with Noels that you don't need to hand out a T5,000 chip at the start, but you don't have enough chips to do his uber-huge-numbers-of-chips-on-the-table starting stacks. For 20 players, you don't quite have enough for 20 (or even 16) T25s per person, so I'd go with:
12 x T25 = 300
12 x T100 = 1200
7 x T500 = 3500
5 x T1000 = 5000
--------------------
36 chips = 10,000
That's the starting stacks I usually hand out (I usually put the T500s on top of the T1000s, so it's 3 stacks of 12). But that would make you short on T500s and T1000s (which I guess is why you were handing out 5000s initially). When the blinds get up near 500-1000, players are almost exclusively going to be betting with T1000s, so you might want to invest in more of these mid-high denominations. I think you already have enough T5000s for rebuys and colouring up (you'll always want some T1000s in play, even if they become obsolete, just so the final table has some chips on it), but you should definitely get some more T500s and T1000s if you want to regularly run T10,000 tourneys.
* One other thing: the T500s become obsolete pretty quickly (since it only takes 2 to make a T1000), so when colouring up the T100s, it's a good idea to get the big stack to buy out most of the T100s, then give him/her as many T5000s and T1000s as you can, adding as few new T500s to the table as possible. That way, you don't have to colour up as many of them, and you don't need to buy as many more, either (i.e. concentrate on obtaining more T1000s). I hope this helps. |

900 chips = $556,250 Starting Stack
12 x $25 --------->$ 300
12 x $100--------->$1200
7x $500----------->$3500 5x $1000---------->$5000

36 chips = $10,000 | I just did a quick calculation and I think you only need 150 total T1000s total. That means with 20 buyins + 20 rebuys, you can colour everything up to T5000s and T1000s. Instead, I'd keep 300 T100s, as you'll need the extras for colouring up the T25s. End result: Chips
250 x $25
300 x $100
150 x $500
150x $1000 = 150,000 50 x $5000 = 250,000
900 chips = $511,250
If you use this calculator: http://www.captlego.com/breakdown/breakdown_6.html
You can see that if you enter 20 players, T10,000 tournament with colour-ups checked, with the 12-12-7-5 starting stack, you can cleanly colour up the T25s to T100s, and you can maneuver a little bit by colouring up some of the T100s directly to T1000s, etc. Basically, the important thing is that your T1000s + T5000s add up to 400,000 in chips, which is what you need for 20 + 20 buy-ins.
Besides, it's not the end of the world if you leave a few T500s on the table at the end of the game. I usually remove most, but don't completely colour them up, mainly because there's no real need to "race them off" even if they are obsolete. Here's a pick of the chips on the table at the end of my last T10,000 home game:
* Actually, that was an 8-player T50,000 (my mistake), but you get the idea. Still 400,000 in chips. Unfortunately, you can't see the T5000 chips very well in this picture because they're holding up the winner's hole cards (not me, btw). |

Well, the cards in play were USPC KEMs. The Trademarks were a gag gift... all money winners got at least 1 deck, as I had about 12 decks of the things laying around. I also gave away a DVD movie to every player (first to bust got first pick, etc.), since my (new) wife and I had several duplicates after combining collections. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
