Chips: 1,318 | | | How big a tournament can my set accommodate? I have a large set of cheapo chips I was holding onto to one day host a large tournament event. I'd like some help creating an optimum tournament structure with the set.
Here is the breakdown:
500 x $25
400 x $100
400 x $500
150 x $1K
30 x $5K
What kind of tournament is this set best suited to run? T3000, T5000? How many players can it accommodate and what should the starting stacks be? Any help appreciated. Thanks! |

He's amazing at this kind of thing and really seems to enjoy doing it.

8 $25
8 $100
8 $500
6 $1000 |

I have found it to be a great tool. http://www.homepokertourney.com/docs...calculator.pdf |

6 $1000 | Or a T5000 for 50 players:
8 x 25
8 x 100
6 x 500
1 x 1000
and there's still 100 x $500 left, enough to color up 25:s and 100:s.
EDIT: Additionally, with this structure there would be 250k in play, which can be colored up to 100 x 1000 plus 30 x 5000 = 130 chips for the final stages... Seems good to me.

Chips: 2,140 | | | Re: How big a tournament can my set accommodate? T5000, 25 players.
starting stack of 12x 25, 12x100, 7 x 500
You also have space left for some rebuys. An ideal set up would reverse the numbers of the 25 and 100 chips, but you have to work with what you have
Actually you could get 3 tables of 9, if you give 1 person a 500 instead of 5x100.
so, 27 player T5000
Edit: hmmmmm why am i so far off the other posts. I've accounted for colour ups. Could that be it?

Chips: 2,986 | | | Re: How big a tournament can my set accommodate? Well, if you hand out 1 chip each and say they're all worth the same amount, you could accomodate 1480 players!
Oh, you're serious. I recommend: http://www.captlego.com/breakdown/breakdown_6.html
It tells me you can run a 40-player T5000 with starting distribution:
12 x 25
7 x 100
6 x 500
1 x 1000
with enough of each for colour-ups (can colour-up everything to 1000s + 5000s), and/or enough 500's up to hand out lots of rebuys. More than 40 players might be pushing it, although you could do it if you really wanted (i.e. go with T2500 and hand out smaller starting stacks). |

Chips: 2,986 | | | Re: How big a tournament can my set accommodate? By the way, with T25 as your smallest denomination, you can get away with as little as a T1500 tournament, as the WSOP has a T1500 Omaha event like that. If you go that route, just have the 25-25 and/or 25-50 levels last quite a while (maybe an hour each) before you start raising the blinds (maybe 20-30 minutes per round after those). That way it won't be quite such a crap-shoot as it might seem. |

Chips: 336 | | | Re: How big a tournament can my set accommodate? If you get another 100, 1k chips and a handful of 5ks, you can have a 50 player T10,000. Blinds start 25/50.
Starting stack would be 8 x25, 8 x100, 8 x 500, 5 x 1000. If you use this structure, you won't have to color up until 1000/2000. You'd be buying up all the 25s, 100s and 500s.
25/50
50/100
75/150
100/200
200/400
300/600
400/800
500/1000
750/1500
1000/2000
2000/4000
3000/6000
4000/8000
20 min levels. |
