T5000 tourney blinds

I think we're gonna mix it up a little tonight since only 8 people can make it to our weekly tourney. We're gonna try a T5000 tourney w/ starting stacks of:

20xT25
10T100
7xT500

and a blind schedule something like:

1. 25 50
2. 50 100 (thanks wijwij)
3. 75 150
4. 100 200
5. 150 300
Break/Color-Up (25s to 100s)
6. 200 400
7. 300 400
8. 400 800
9. 600 1200
10. 800 1600
Break/Color-Up 100s to 500s
11. 1000 2000
12. 1500 3000
13. 2000 4000
14. 2500 5000

I highly doubt we'll need all 14 levels with only 8 players, (you never know though) but otherwise does this look okay? I've never done one like this before. Thanks.

Re: T5000 tourney blinds

Your second level is a little unusual, since all the others are in a 1:2 ratio. Maybe make it 50/100 instead of 50/75. Otherwise that schedule looks great.

For one table you will probably not need more than 8 or 9 levels. But it depends on how people play and whether you will be allowing rebuys.

A variation on the starting stack, if you have enough T100s:

16 x T25
16 x T100
6 x T500

Another one some people use is the 8/8/8 starting stack:

8 X T25
8 X T100
8 X T500

Re: T5000 tourney blinds

Yeah, I'm dumb. It's supposed to be 50/100. Thanks for the suggestions on some other starting stacks too!!!

8 players X 5,000 chips = 40,000 chips in play. The big blind will be about 4% of that when the game ends. 40,000 X .04 = 1,600.

Looks like the game will last about 10 blind levels and a break.

How long will each level be?

Good luck.
BTW, nice blind structure.

Re: T5000 tourney blinds

We play $5,000 quite often, with a similar blind schedule. But we skip your levels 8 and 9 and go to 500-1000 blinds. Unless we have 9-10 players, we usually skip your level 10. So we go:
300-600
400-800
500-1000
1000-2000
which is quite a jump after the slow start, but there usually are only a few players left.

We have settled on a different starting stack that doesn't have so many of the $25 chips hanging around, but makes the $100 the workhorse betting chip. (With no antes and not a lot of family pots w/ all limpers.) We use either 8 x $25, 13 x $100 and 7 x $500, or more often we use 8-13-3-2 using $1000s.

GL!

Re: T5000 tourney blinds

I'm a fan of levels 8 and 9. Slow 'er down a little here, ya know?

I assume lvl7 is 300/600?

Re: T5000 tourney blinds

I'm assuming that should be 300 600 not 300 400

but yeah. I like this structure very much, my friends and I also use it.
