Has anyone ever played at a table.....

of 12 players total. Last night I had 12 players in my league game and did 2 tables of 6. I made the final table 8 players.

One of the players insisted that we should all play on one table however I said that it was too many. The most I have ever seen 11 max. Has anyone ever played in a sit n go in any casino that seats 12 players???

Re: Has anyone ever played at a table.....

I've only ever seen 11 max. I agree with your decision, 12 is three players too many! My current structure is 8max anyway.

Never seen 12, 11 on rare occasion. We combine tables at 10. Pay too many blinds 4 or 5 handed waiting to combine at 8 or 9.

I would have made the same decision, however, it does feel weird to be playing a 6-handed table and then combine to a larger table.

Re: Has anyone ever played at a table.....

Never seen 12 before; definately too many.
Play at another house with 11 before; which is too many IMO.
Our max is 10 (sometimes nine).

Re: Has anyone ever played at a table.....

10 max is surely typical. We squeezed 11 in once and most thought it was too crowded.

Re: Has anyone ever played at a table.....

I played in a tourney in Grande Prairie Alberta, a tiny lil casino with a tiny poker room and they squished 13 to a table.....13!! It was awful. The first hour of the tourney was limit format and then switched to NL. I haven't been back since.

Re: Has anyone ever played at a table.....

i have played at a home game with 12 players at one table. it was acceptable because it was a full size table (easily 10+dealer, but never have ft dealer anyways) so it was literally just one player over capacity. I don't see what the big deal is i'd rather go large to small than small to large to small. I wouldn't complain if it started either way depending on the size of the table.

I (and probably many of us) believe that 10 players are one too many for a poker hand, of any type. The probabilities shift slightly, there's more of the "bunching" effect and postflop play becomes something quite different.
