guys i need some advice. my tournament is next week. I usually have a $50 buyin tournament but i want to try rebuy out, hoping it creates more action and bigger prize pool. if you have ran a rebuy tourney before, i appreciate your insight.

$20 buyin
2000 starting stack
unlimited rebuy first hour $20 for 2000
addon at end of hour $20 for 2000
blinds increase every 30 min
looking at between 20-27 players

i initially intended to start the blinds at 25/25, then 25/50 the next round. but looking at it, this might not create the action and rebuys im hoping for. is starting at 25/50 too high? of course, you can rebuy any time your stack is at or below 2000 so u can rebuy right off the bat and start with a 4000 chip stack. I could also make rebuys last for 1.5 hours instead. when blinds are at 50/100 i know for sure rebuys would happen alot because of the low starting stack. what do u think i should do? keep the 25/25 or move it up to 25/50 then 50/100. i want to keep rounds at 30 min each. also, should the addon be more than 2000? thanks in advance for the advice.

thx for the advice. so add on should always be doulbe starting stack? im going to stick with my rebuy policy. the way u suggest works, but it will make it too complicated on my guests. plus i will have to be counting stacks down all the time to make sure they are below a certain amount, etc. i moved up starting blinds to 25-50 im sticking with 30 min rounds throughout, better to make it consistent. hopefully the 50-100 level for 30 minutes will be sufficient. add on for $20 for 3000 chips, doubling starting stack just seems too much to me. blinds are as follows

50-100 break for add ons

150-300 break for color up

300-600

400-800 final break
600-1200

800-1600
1000-2000

hopefully the tournament ends at this point. if i need to i will decrease round time to 20 minutes when everyone is in the money (top 6). if i still need to, i will make the heads up rounds 15 min each.

~20 rebuys x 2000 = 40,000
~15 add ons * 3000 = 45,000

avg stack for final table (9 players) = 15,000
avg stack for five = 27,000
avg heads up stack = 67,500

so with these averages, where do you see this tournament ending? for those that have run rebuys, how many do you usually get and how many addons? are my guesses along the right lines or should i estimate for more/less rebuys? thx.
