HTML Javascript Blind maker

For those of you that haven't read my article on tournament blind creation, please take a look here:
http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/poker-...tructures.html

Now, the fun part (This is my first shot at Javascript! If you're a better programmer, please take a shot at sprucing things up)
http://battlereports.atspace.com/blindmaker.html

How to use the blindmaker:
1. Starting Stack = # chips players start with
2. # of players = Number of players + Number of expected rebuys
Total # of chips = Stack size x # of players
M = Stack size / current blind level
3. # of levels = How many blind levels you want
Total time of tournament = # of levels x time per level
4. Starting small blind = what the first blind level should be
5. Smallest Chip = all blind levels will be divisible by this number. The blindmaker should work fine if this number is 1, 5, 10, 25, 100 or some "normal" number

No error checking is done on the inputs -- don't enter garbage and expect the program to check it

Hit calculate once you're done with steps 1-5 and you should get a working blind schedule. You may wish to tweak the levels a bit to make the level jumps more to your liking (i.e blindmaker might suggest 100-150-300, and you might prefer 100-200-300).

The schedule tells you the sb/bb, M at the current level given a starting stack, and the increase that the blind level represents from the previous level.

If you're seeing numbers >2 for Inc. you might want to lower the starting stack or raise the starting blind.

At some point i'll make it do antes, but i feel very lazy right now

Re: HTML Javascript Blind maker

this.is.a.long.winded.post->onclick(button);

You interested in using this under Windows Media Center Edition with a remote control?

I took a crack at just getting the look and feel of MCE with it.... didnt add any remote control capabilities yet, thats easy. I did put it in the menu system - using the chiptalk logo (dont sue me Ten... please)... And added in a quick and dirty replace with stock MCE CSS Styles.

I dont know if you're a windows hack or not, but i've got it down where I can create a menu item on the main menu of a MCE rollup-2/Vista & how to launch directly into the MCE based application. Example: Programmatically register ChipTalk as a MCE/Vista OEM, making it a MCE main menu item Below Online Spotlight, and other tools below like yours. its less than 20 lines of XML and 2 .bat files for register/unregister. once you get into MS based Hi-Lite scripts....

I can't recommend Javascript as a starting programming language to anyone, its a pick up language but it does get the job done. I prefer C/C++ dont care if it windows or linux. I'm just now getting dirty with Python and Ruby. I am an advanced javascript hack. wrote the book on hyper threading LOL works great with Core 2 DUOs LOL bottom-up parsing - spent 6 of my 32 years writing compilers & optimization routines to the metal.

Honestly, to any programmer who has read this far, i am building an application using XUL & I have to say it rocks. XUL is fantastic once you get your hands around the fact that "there.is.only.one". You can tie to Javascript, Python, binaries, anything... Windows/Linux/Mac....

I really like XUL. I know prob 20+ programming langs, have shipped over 13M apps in 19 languages, easy, and XUL has a $pecial $pot in my heart. Yeah, I request objects from XUL - they work for me - I send them back ;_) lil xmlrpc.

I'm in a nice position where i get paid to try and get my "supported" applications on all sorts of different platforms and devices. Like exercise bikes - Those bikes I put together for SF IDF/NY Digital Life..... I will be at CES this year!!! Dont let me fool you, ive been going to CES every since COMDEX died

http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/genera...t=digital+life
http://news.com.com/1606-2-6120454.html?tag=ne.vid

These bad boy bikes are going to CES along with me all week vegas bebe. paid for.

JMC - Dude you made me look into my repository of CT code... I've got hackc tabbed blind/timer schedule (nice work by the way) & VAR's pokerbot - still working on my GA based bot.... LOL.. and the Chip Calculator (also nice work) & gangers crypto & someones RSS feed code that doesnt work.
-- I want to help you out.
-- help CT out
-- help out fellow coders.
-- i only work pro-bono for CT, all posted code is intended for "chiptalk",,,,,?

Whats the policy on CT code distro? I cant redistro hackc code without his permission.... he made posted JavaScript tabbed classes very nice tabbed hide/visible script wizard.

Ten, Admins? I assume posted code is opensource/common knowledge? i wont put up how to add CT to MCE rollup-2 until i get the word. is it host it yourself & represent? or every post is common knowledge on CT?

this post is long enough... i'll take it up in the admin section

hope you could read what i wrote

Re: HTML Javascript Blind maker

Unfortunately, I don't know much about MCE. I was originally looking to write the program in a language that supported multiple platforms, so it was either java or javascript. Obviously, my html/javascript skills are rather lacking

As for the code I posted above, I'll say that it's available for anyone to use and modify, as long as it's redistributed freely to the public

Re: HTML Javascript Blind maker

The only difference with MCE is that you have to add tags to objects (buttons, lists, input boxes etc) that id's that item inside MCE as a clickable item. Then MCE builds a list of the selectable items so you can navigate using the remote control.

The nice thing is that browsers like IE or FF or safari ignore the extra information and treat the page as if the tags were not there.

So you still get cross-platform action, just some added benefits under MCE.

I'll take a swipe at it over the next week or so.... Once I get my CES crud done and out the door.

Nice Work JMC!

Just found this post.

Thanks for the compliments BTW. As for any code I've posted, do with it what you will free of any licenses, legalese, etc. Its just stuff I work on in my spare time anyways.

Re: HTML Javascript Blind maker

Just giving this a bump because I think it's a neat tool and I like playing around with it. I make my own schedules but still like to use this to test them against a formula rather than me thinking "yeah, that looks about right"
