Chips for re-buys and breakdown

How many re-buys should I have on top of the starting stacks in a 10 person tourney? Assuming re-buys are only within the first hour. I'm assuming at least 3?

Also what would your breakdown be for a 5/10/20, 500 or even a 600 chip set doing a T500 for 10 people? I'm doing a lot of configurations and it seems with the blinds the working chip is the highest denom.

Thanks

Re: Chips for re-buys and breakdown

rebuys: it really depends on your players. looser players equals more rebuys. but on average about 30-50% rebuy rate.. anyone agree/disagree

as for your set...do you really want 5/10/20? wouldn't you want the standard 5/25/100?

OK, so you're saying 3-5 re-buys then.

I'm trying to make a certain chip that I want to work out since the denoms are limited.

Thanks

Re: Chips for re-buys and breakdown

here's my suggestion for a 5/10/20 setup (10 players, t500) for 500 chips

if you really want enough chips for rebuys, get a 600 chip set and get t50 chips if they are availalble. if not then get lots of t20 chips (though there will only be enough for 5 rebuys)

Re: Chips for re-buys and breakdown

Yeah 600 would be better, no t50's available. Because of money if I can make 500 work that would be nice. I was doing configurations in blocks of 20 with no 5's left over after the intial stacks. It looks like I would only have 2 re-buys based on your chart.

I also figured with the blind structure I don't have to color up the 5's and could use them for antes later. Either way what about this.

5 x 100
10 x 150
20 x 250

Starting 10/15/15 with enough to color up the first denom and 3 rebuys. I could stretch it for 4 rebuys and color up. You can always get change on the table.

Just want to make sure I'm on the right track. Maximizing expensive chips is a must.

Thanks

Re: Chips for re-buys and breakdown

your set works out too.

it's just hard to work out a decent breakdown when the denoms are so close together

Correct, I was having trouble with it. Looks like I'm going with the above instead of 600 chips.
