Chips: 74 | | | 24 man tournament coming up, need advice. Wassup guys. I am looking a bit of advice on a 24 man tourny I will be hosting next saturday.
I plan on holding a 24 man tourny.
here is what I have as far as chips go
Green x 300 $25
Black x 250 $100
Purple x 150 $500
Orange x 050 $1,000
It will be a T5000
Each player will get the following
12 x 25
07 x 100
06 x 500
01 x 1,000
____________
26 $5,000
Blinds (20 minute/round)
25-50
50-100
100-200
Smoke break with coloring up the greens
200-400
300-600
400-800
Smoke break with coloring up of the blacks if people choose
1000-2000
1500-3000
2000-4000
Hopefully by then, the game will be done with. I am pushing for a 3 hour game + breaks. The final 5 will sit at the final table with the top 3 players within the league that the guys have been playing with for the past year. there, either it will go back to a T5000, or a T10,000. I have yet to decide on that. So the final table will consist of 8 players total, All these players will be in the money.
I believe the total pot is about $1,140.
$540 of it is from all the $1 "donation" each player put in at the start of every game night since Jan.
$300 of it will be from 12 players who will be putting in a $20 buyin
$360 of it will be from 12 players who will be putting in a $30 buyin(these people rarely play, so they did not donate as much as the other 12)
I have set the payout out to the following
1st - $440 39%
2nd - $200 17%
3rd - $150 13%
4th - $100 09%
5th - $080 07%
6th - $070 06%
7th - $060 05%
8th - $050 04%
(percentage has been rounded up for the most part except for 2nd place, which has been decreased)
This is assuming that everyone shows up, and there is no rebuy.
Assuming that people want to do rebuys, how should I do it?
This is where it gets iffy for me, as I am not good with rebuys.
My idea is, Since i only have about 26 oranges left, I will only offer up a total of 5 rebuys period. once those rebuys are gone, your basically done. The rebuy will be $25 and you will get $5,000. After The blinds goes to 300-600, there will be no more rebuys.
That is what I plan to do. If you guys have any ideas or tips, please let me know.

If you used 20 chips (even cheapies) that were 5k you could have one rebuy per person max. In reality, usually only half the people need a rebuy because the other half have their chips.
So this field is playing down to 5 people at which point another tournament will start with the three leaders? I hope so, otherwise how do you determine those three people's chipstacks? I'm pretty sure that's what you're getting at and it should work fine.

Is it typical to color up the T100 chips in a 24-player T5000 tournament like in the original post?
What about the same structure only starting with T10,000 in chips instead...is coloring up the T100s standard for T10,000?
Do you guys ever color up the T500s in T10,000 tournaments too, leaving nothing but T1,000 and T5,000 chips out there? |

| Yeah, I agreed with you. I have decided that I will a cash set chip as a $5000 chip. that will be the buy in chip. I'll let the gang decide on whether or not they want 1 rebuy, or 2. Quote: |

Mike | True, that is actually what i am doing. THe original last 5 standing ill get paid, But the top 3 leader must be in it as well. Hence why I am considering doing the top 8 for final table, final payout.
thanks for all the advices guys! |

2000-4000 | is this the structure you've been using all along? if so, that's ok, but it is a very aggressive structure.
for the first 4 levels, the blinds keep doubling, not allowing any breathing room for conservative players.
the levels are 20 minutes each which adds to the pressure.
the big jump is from 400/800 to 1000/2000. the blinds more than double in that increase. and that is probably the time where the play is more crucial as players become short-stacked.
if you want to allow smart play to prevail, you might want to reconsider the blinds progression.

4ceps | hmm. crap. I messed up. the last 3 blind should be 500-1000
1000-2000
1500-3000 Yeah.... it may seem agressive, but this is how the players want it. we have always played like this.. If I had my choice, it would have been a little lighter. besides most of the guys dunt know what they are doing anyway... bunch of chasers and idiots.... |

I wouldn't allow rebuys, you barely have enough chips to color people up w/ 24x5k!
24x5k = 120k in play
50x1k + 140x500 = 120k (that's all your high denoms!) |
