Small Tourney Tonight in 2 hours! Need stucture help!

Thanks in advance fellow Chiptalkers!

I'm hosting about 6-8 players tonight (couple maybes).
Starting 9pm, would like to end the game no later than 2pm.

I have the following demons to play with
10
25
50
100
500
1000

I plan on doing one rebuy per person for the first hour or two.

Suggestions on starting stacks, denoms, blinds, etc?????

Thanks!

hope that's a typo..........
How many of each denom do you have?
that would help. Any particular denom you have lots of? I would make that your middle denomination and use three.
Five hours (If I assume 2am) is kind of a deep stack setup?

I've done T2500 starting with 12T25, 17T100 and 1T500 and it lasted around three hours, but there were no rebuys. It felt a bit short stackish too. starting blinds at 25/50, twenty minute blinds for the first hour then ten minute blinds. I think with your rebuys per person will you get everyone refreshing or maybe just one or two people?

WIll wait for quantities

Give everyone $10,000 in chips just like the WSOP. And at least 50 chips so the stacks look really nice instead of these wimpy 15 chip tournaments.

Re: Small Tourney Tonight in 2 hours! Need stucture help!

I think that the first 2 hours is a long time to offer rebuys for a single table tournament.

I use the free poker timer here, with the default levels:

http://www.pokerroom.com/main/page/p...dies/organizer

And do T1500:
20 x red
16 x green
10 x black

Then we color up all the reds and greens and take a break if the levels make it high enough.

Tourney lasts 2-3 hours with 6-10 players.

Just posting this to give you a quick easy start if you just want to try it for the first game until you work something out.

Also, we don't do rebuys. To keep everyone busy that gets knocked out early, we just have a side microstakes cash game at a card table. When too many people get knocked out to play at the card table, we switch tables.

Re: Small Tourney Tonight in 2 hours! Need stucture help!

Without knowing how much you have of each denom it's kind of hard to give you anything meaningful, but I would advise you to not put more than 4 different denoms in play and have your starting stacks at 100x the big blind with a gradually progressing blind schedule. Here are a couple of articles that may also assist you:
http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/poker-...ome-games.html
http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/poker-...tructures.html

Or Post your breakdown of how many of each denom and someone will suggest something for you.

20 $100
a $50?????
40 $25
40 $10

Then color up later with the $500 and $1000's getting rid of the $10 and $25

That's a nice rack of chips for everyone to shove around for awhile.

Re: Small Tourney Tonight in 2 hours! Need stucture help!

Yea, I was kinda green when I made the set, there custom nexgens....if i were to make a set now I would not make a 50chip, waste of time.

Anyhow, those sound like some good starting stacks, any suggestions for blinds?

thanks!

Thanks for the help last night guys!
I ended up running a T1500 using T1000 blind schedule, worked out pretty good!
