| Re: 16 person heads up tourney I don't know the exact format you are using, but may I suggest this one.
16 players, so basically you do this to make sure everyone gets at least two matches. The 8 winners and 8 losers each go into new brackets. The 8 winners continue to play, down to 4, then 2, and then the champion is crowned. The 8 losers do the same. The catch is, only the losers' bracket winner receives any prize money, whereas the top 4 finishers in the winners' side receive payouts. Example:
16 players x $25 buyin = $400 prize pool
1st place = $160, 2nd place = $80, 3rd place = $60, 4th place = $60, 5th place (Losers Bracket champion) = $40
In this format everyone plays at least two games. Those who go to the losers' bracket may get to play another game or two, but they have a much harder time winning money, and, if they do, they win less. |
