I have a 16 person double elimination heads up tournament (HPT bracket system) set up for tomorrow.I need a little help with the starting stacks and blinds.I can pretty much accomadate anything up to a T20000.Any thoughts or experience?

I recommend a 50x starting stack. 10,000 with 100-200 starting blinds. Go 15x 100, 7x 500, 5x 1000. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback guys.I think I will go with a T10000 with blinds starting at 100/200.But with 16 players and a double elimination,I think Im gonna have to start out with 10 minute levels.

I don't know the exact format you are using, but may I suggest this one.

16 players, so basically you do this to make sure everyone gets at least two matches. The 8 winners and 8 losers each go into new brackets. The 8 winners continue to play, down to 4, then 2, and then the champion is crowned. The 8 losers do the same. The catch is, only the losers' bracket winner receives any prize money, whereas the top 4 finishers in the winners' side receive payouts. Example:

16 players x $25 buyin = $400 prize pool

1st place = $160, 2nd place = $80, 3rd place = $60, 4th place = $60, 5th place (Losers Bracket champion) = $40

In this format everyone plays at least two games. Those who go to the losers' bracket may get to play another game or two, but they have a much harder time winning money, and, if they do, they win less.

Seems a little unfair, BigKyle. Whoever draws the strongest HU player for the first match is basically screwed. If you take a horrible beat to a donkey calling his money off with A hi and hitting runner runner flush in the first match you are screwed. How do double eliminations usually determine placement? I think it should be at which "level" of the bracket you got eliminated. I don't know how you would handle ties.

No match went passed level 5.The tourney lasted about 5 1/2 hours.

To save time,the one thing we did different was we matched up the first 8 losers as they went out.First two out played each other and so on.

All in all it went pretty well.It's not something I would do on a regular basis though.
