20 Person T 1000 Tourney Blindstructure

We are planning to do a 20 people T1000 Tourney (denoms possible down to 1 or 5, up to 1000).

I often played with 10 people, but I am unsure with 20. Also the buy in is relatively high for our usual games. So it should not be too hasty and keep the flow as good as possible.

I would say it should last like 6-8 hours. No Antes as I feel the players here are enough loose or aggressive, so it doesn't need acceleration.

Rebuy in the first hour possible when broke (1000 Chips).

How should the Blindstructure be? When should it reach what amount?

I would be happy to hear your tips and suggestions.

Re: 20 Person T 1000 Tourney Blindstructure

I'm unsure if you want it to last that long or if you believe it will because of the extra players but normally, a game comes to and end when the big blind reaches the starting stack size (give or take a level). I run a 20 man league with T1500 start, 20 min rounds and a relatively slow blind progression (see below). No matter if I have 10 or 20 players my games only last 3-4 hours, right about the time the blinds hit the 1200 to 1500 BB level. You may find your 10 man structure will work fine and the 20 man game will last about as long until you reach the 3 player/heads-up levels. Mine tend to "slow" at this point. With people in the money spots with their eye on the win play starts to tighten up and the action slows down.

If you want the game to last 6-8 hours you will have to add some $1 demon levels, maybe increase round time and add blind levels in half steps (15-30, 150-300, 250-500 etc)

Hope that helps. A lot depends on the players too.

My blind levels (no antes)
5-10
10-20
20-40
break
25-50
50-100
100-200
break
300-600
400-800
500-1000
break
600-1200
700-1400
You get the idea. I increase the small blind 100 each level and double for the BB.

Re: 20 Person T 1000 Tourney Blindstructure

My bi-weekly tourneys are also 20 players T1500 like ranman, I structure my blinds only slightly different. Ours is a freezeout, tends to run about 5 hours, although breaks are sometimes extended more than the scheduled 10 minutes. With rebuy, you may be pushing 6 or 7 hours, depending on how aggressive your players are (we sometimes don't have a bustout even in the first hour)

Level Blinds
1 5 / 10
2 10 / 15
3 15 / 25
Break 1 10 Minutes
4 25 / 50
5 50 / 100
6 75 / 150
Break 2 10 Minutes
7 100 / 200
8 150 / 300
9 200 / 400
Break 3 10 Minutes
10 300 / 600
11 400 / 800
12 500 / 1000
13 500 / 1500
14 1000 / 2000

never been past here so you might have to add i.e. 1500/2000

Okay, let's give this a shot. We have 20 players x 1k buyin = 20k
We allow rebuys, so lets assume there are roughly 10 rebuys = 10k
Total on the table 30k (we'll add some blind levels to finish up if there are more rebuys).

We want blinds to be roughly 1/2k at the 7hr mark.

wijwij's 2-3-4-6 progression might be good for you:
14 levels, 30 min blinds

5 10
10 20
15 30
20 40
30 60
(color out T5)

50 100
75 150
100 200
150 300

(color out T25)

200 400
300 600
400 800
600 1200

(color out T100)

1000 2000 (7 hours. Game should be over for about 10 rebuys)
2000 4000 (7.5 hours. Game should be over for about 40 rebuys)
4000 8000

Re: 20 Person T 1000 Tourney Blindstructure

Thanx for the valuable infos. Gonna present it to my friends who have the chips and location if it would be alright. I think jmc's proposal could fit well for what we had in mind.
