Need help with deciding on how many total chips I would need for a cash game set for about 6-8 players. I normally play T5000 structure but I am now looking to do a cash game on the side.
I would like to do a 0.25-0.50 game and get some denoms. How many denoms of 0.25 and $1 chips should I get total. The buy-in would be anywhere from $20-$40.
No need for more than $3 in quarters per player so 12x8 = 96 (round to 100 - that's $25 cash) Any more buy ins would be done with 20 $1's or 4 $5's.
Probably 200 $1's and 100 $5's or 250 $1 and 50 $5's
100 x $0.25 = $25
200 x $1 = $200
100 x $5 = $500
$725 in cash
100 x $0.25 = $25
250 x $1 = $250
50 x $5 = $250
$525 in cash
100 x $0.25 = $25
200 x $1 = $200
80 x $5 = $400
20 x $20 = $400
$1025 in cash
Any should work for you - the key is don;t get any more quarters than you need for the initial buy in. there will be plenty on the table to make change from other players.

I have a set very similar to option 3 above and have had no problems so far. My breakdown is:
25¢ x 98
$1 x 158
$5 x 58
$20 x 18
This works out to 332 chips and fits nicely into my 300 piece case.
