T5000 Structure, any comments?

Any comments regarding blinds or times?
Starting chips are 8x25, 13x100, 7x500 and maybe 1x1k if I'm feeling generous. If 15 or less people, the 12x25, 12x100

Code:
R#	Small	Big	Ante	Time	Duration
1	25	50	-	25	0	25
2	50	100	-	25	0	50
3	100	200	-	25	1	15
4	150	300	-	25	1	40
5	200	400	-	20	2	0
6	300	600	-	20	2	20
7	400	800	-	20	2	40
8	600	1200	-	20	3	0
9	1000	2000	-	15	3	15
10	1500	3000	-	15	3	30
11	2000	4000	-	15	3	45

Re: T5000 Structure, any comments?

I would eliminate the 3500-7000 round, as well as the 7000-14000 round. Those are just odd numbers that you wont see in any tournaments. Other than that it looks perfect. I would prefer to play with only two different-length rounds, like 25 and 20 minutes, but if you can pull it off go for it. Also, I don't know how many players you'll have, but you may consider adding antes and making the rounds all 25 minutes if you think your players can handle it. Some of the smaller, bigger buyin tournaments I play in use antes because there is little chatter among players and everyone is programmed to toss their ante in at the conclusion of every hand.

Re: T5000 Structure, any comments?

I forgot to mention this about chipstacks too. I would prefer a 12xT25, 7xT100, 4xT500, 2xT1000 breakdown but whatever you choose is fine provided you have enough chips. You could also go 8, 8, 4, 2, or 8, 8, 8, for starting chips.

Thumbs up Re: T5000 Structure, any comments?

I like your structure, a little different in the beginning but we catch up in the end. I am not sure if I will go with 30 or 25 minute levels as this will be for 8 players max as it is my year end winner takes all invitational for the top 8 points leaders of the season. So I won't mind if it takes 4 hours as there will be a lot of money on the line.

No-Limit Hold'em $5,000
Level Small Big
1 - $50 - $100
2 - $75 - $150
3 - $100 - $200
4 - $125 - $250
5 - $250 - $500
6 - $375 - $750
7 - $500 - $1,000
8 - $750 - $1,500
9 - $1,000 - $2,000
10 - $1,500 - $3,000
11 - $2,000 - $4,000
12 - $2,500 - $5,000
13 - $3,000 - $6,000
14 - $4,000 - $8,000
15 - $5,000 - $10,000

Re: T5000 Structure, any comments?

I agree with bigkyle. If I were you I would encorporate ante's. I follow the WSOP $5000 blind schedule which includes two rounds of 100-200, one with ante's one without

Re: T5000 Structure, any comments?

I'd add in a round for 800 - 1600. If you need to eliminate an earier round, nix the 150-300. Otherwise nix the 3500-7000.

Re: T5000 Structure, any comments?

Looks good. Looks like you're going for a longer game. In my T5000, I have a 75-150 and a 800-1600 round in there. First 6 rounds are 20 min, then 4 rounds at 15 min and then the rest at 10 min. It's been taking about 3.5 hours or so lately.

And yeah, no need for 3500-7000 or 2500-5000 really. After 1500-3000, I color up purples and go 2-4, 3-6, 4-8, etc.

Unless your game is really hard core and EVERYONE is paying attention, don't do antes. They just cause pain and slow the game down more than they're worth IMO. Most of my crew is really good, but it only takes someone in the middle of story time or any number of other things going on and then you spend a ton of time tracking who paid their ante, are all the antes right and so on and so on. I still use them on occasion for my deep stack game, but for the regular T5000 quicker game, there's no benefit to them in my mind.

Re: T5000 Structure, any comments?

We have a long-running T$5,000 tourney setup that everyone likes.

We use only $25/100/500/1000 chips, with a starting stack of 8/13/3/2 (26 chips). The $100 chips quickly become the workhorse without a lot of wasted $25s on the table.

Blinds are like this for a large group, though we seldom get to the higher levels before it's over. We start at 100 x BB, and usually skip levels 3, 5 & 7 unless we have lots of players.
1 $25 $50
2 $50 $100
(3 $75 $150)
4 $100 $200
(5 $150 $300)
6 $200 $400
(7 $300 $600)
8 $500 $1,000
9 $1,000 $2,000
10 $1,500 $3,000
11 $2,000 $4,000
12 $3,000 $6,000
13 $4,000 $8,000
14 $5,000 $10,000
15 $6,000 $12,000
16 $8,000 $16,000
17 $10,000 $20,000
etc. if necessary

Re: T5000 Structure, any comments?

Thanks for all the comments so far.

The tourney will have between 16-20 players and I'd like something to last around the between 4-5 hours. Chip stack sizes are limited by my chips so upto 15 gets 12 12 7 while 16+ gets 8 13 7

Code:
R#	Small	Big	Ante	Time	Duration Notes
1	25	50	-	25	0	25
2	50	100	-	25	0	50
3	100	200	-	25	1	15
4	200	400	-	20	1	35	Color Up 25s
5	300	600	-	20	1	55
6	400	800	-	20	2	15
7	600	1200	100	20	2	35
8	800	1600	100	20	2	55	Break
9	1000	2000	100	20	3	15
10	1500	3000	100	20	3	35
11	2000	4000	500	20	3	55	Color up 100s
12	2500	5000	500	20	4	15
13	3000	6000	500	15	4	30
14	4000	8000	500	15	4	45	Color Up 500s
15	5000	10000	1000	15	5	0
16	6000	12000	1000	15	5	15
17	8000	16000	1000	15	5	30
