11 Players at a table?

We usually play a weekly 10 player T$1500 game. We have a pool of 12 players and in the past year have never had more than 10 players at a game until this week. We have 11 confirmed starts.

Poker tables generally only seat 9 or 10 players at the most. Is there a reason for this or is it okay to play with 11 players? Can anyone help me out as I would rather not have to set up 2 tables if we don't have to.

Thanks in advance

Re: 11 Players at a table?

11 players receive 22 cards, 3 to burn, 5 for the community....that's 30 cards used and 22 left in the stock

I, personally, see no reason not to play 11-handed, but over that is pushing it...

Re: 11 Players at a table?

ive been in tournaments where the final table started with 11 players. i dont see where there would be a problem except for being a little cramped at first.

Re: 11 Players at a table?

No problem with starting a tourn. with 11 on one table. It might be crowded to start but as soon as players start to get knock out it will be good again. I know of B&M poker rooms that do start with 11 per table. I would not mind starting with 11 for a tourney but no way would I want to play a ring game with more than 10.

Re: 11 Players at a table?

Actually at my local casino they usually have 11 player tables to start because of how many sign up and it works out fine.

Re: 11 Players at a table?

11 is just fine. Don't worry about it. I'd rather have 11 at one table than have a 6 and a 5 player table.

Re: 11 Players at a table?

Thanks for the advice guys - 11 players it is. I'm sure it won't take long for it to get down to 10, I just hope it isn't me sitting out.

Re: 11 Players at a table?

My home game has on occasion had 11 players and it worked OK.
My only piece of advice is to tighten up your game and be very selective on your hands at least until some guys get knocked out.Players at my game when 11 handed seem to over value hands and it gets short handed quicker than when only 8 start.
Just my 2c.
DerryABU.
