T10K, would like opinions

Hi all. I'm working on a new table and when it's finished I'm going to host
a tournament. I would appreciate some opinions on my setup.

8 Players
I want the game to last 6-7 hours.(not including the breakes)
Every player start with:

12 x Green T25
17 x Black T100
8 x Purple T500
4 x Orange T1000

TOTAL
----------------
41 T10000

Levels= 30 minutes

Level SB/BB
1 50/100
2 100/200
3 150/300
-----------------------Breake/Remove T25 Chips
4 200/400
5 300/600
6 400/800
-----------------------Breake
7 500/1000
8 600/1200
9 700/1400
10 800/1600
-----------------------Breake/Remove T100 Chips
11 1000/2000
12 1500/3000
13 2000/4000
14 2500/5000
-----------------------

Re: T10K, would like opinions

I would have breaks instead of brakes

With only 8 players I don't see this lasting 6-7 hrs even for the ultra conservatives like me . Just too few players IMO and short tables will naturally loosen up so they'll be more fireworks.

Just my guess.

Re: T10K, would like opinions

Here is what my group does (I've been running a weekly T10,000 tournament for 2 years). I don't think there is any way to make an 8-player tourney last even over 5 hours.

We play 2 games each night, which last 1.5-3 hours each (5-9 people)

Each player starts with:
40 $100's
8 $500's
2 $1,000's

20 minute levels, blinds are as follows:

100/200
200/400
300/600
400/800
500/100
600/1200
700/1400
600/1600
etc if needed.

Re: T10K, would like opinions

I agree with panthers with respect to not using $25 chips...I run a T10000 as well (max 10, avg 8 players) and use $100s as the lowest denom

25 $100s
15 $500s

blinds start at 100/100 to maintain the 100XBB start and increase every 15-20 minutes as follows...

100/100
100/200
200/400
300/600
500/1000
1000/2000
1500/3000
2000/4000
3000/6000

my games last 2.5hrs on avg...

I guess adding a few more levels should fix this but I'm not quite sure where.

I think your only option is to add more players, IMO.

The only other thing I can think of is to play a limit structure with painfully slow increases in blind levels.

If it were me I'd leave it as is & just play two games.

I'd suggest using rebuys to get a longer tournament out of it. You can have a Tmillion NL tourney with blinds of 1-2 , 2-4 etc if you want, but you will still not get a particularly long event, becuse the first time that 2 pair comes up against a boat, you may get two players all in. Could lose three players in the first hand. You never know.

As other people have said, you can run two tournies with a pizza break in between, to stretch out the event. That works too.

And by the way, your English is somewhat better than my Swedishm so don't sweat it!

That sounds like a good idea I think I'll do that.

Re: T10K, would like opinions

A big problem with one really long tournament is that it really sucks for those who are out early. 2 shorter tourneys gives them a reason to stick around and a chance to redeem themselves.
