This is my biggest pet peeve of many of the SD-area casinos. Oceans11 and Viejas are the biggest perpetrators of this. They jack up the blinds so fast to get you to the raked cash games that you would be better off flipping a coin for money.

I definitely understand the skill vs. luck design. I'm just not currently convinced that changing the SB/BB ratio in the middle of a tournament is really a good test of skill and adaptation.

I've never played in, nor heard of, a tournament that does such a thing. That obviously doesn't mean it can't be done, I just don't know if it serves the overall purpose. I'm more in favor of smoothing out the blind structure and having them go up more slowly to reduce the luck factor. Increasing antes is definitely something that does change things, and to me is a better (or good enough) test of adaptation/skill.
