I like heads up play, but making a whole tournament out of it would drive me nuts! When we get down to heads up play, we usually have a dedicated dealer that isn't in the game and one other person dedicated to shuffling/preparing the next deck of cards (alternating between the red/blue in a setup for example). |

| The tourney ended on the last hand of level 4. I went all in after floping a straight and he called with a flush draw I won and I had him covered so that was it. Not really the best game but all I had. My dad is still kinda learning NL tourneys. According to Tournement Director with the messing around we did while watching TV also. It took just about 55 mins from start to end. I think this just might work ok. I might change level 4 back to 15min and say its done for now, but future tweaks can always happen. The stacks seemed a little small but it was ok. I like having more chips in play but thats for a full tourney so for a quick 2 person tourney I think it was kinda nice and will be great for the next power outage. I can't wait.

The only problem I have with a dedicated dealer is that that person couldn't play at all. To run a heads up tourney you would always need a dealer, and one for every match. To start that would be 4 different people in an 8 man tourney. I don't know about you, but I don't think I could find 4 guys to just deal at one of my tournies.
Then if you include them into the tourney, it would basically double the length of the first few rounds (making it 2 hours for each round), because you could only run half of each bracket round at one time. That would probably make the whole thing last 8-9 hours, instead of 5-6 hours (figuring in that this is a double elimination tournament). |

What I like about these brackets is how it handles the byes when there isn't exactly 4, 8, 16 and so on players. Other brackets seem to have play-in games on the front end of the the tourney and I'm not a fan of that. |

Well I have another guy scheduled to show up tonight for a heads up trial. Hopefully this try goes better than the last two! |

We averaged 18 hands per round, and stopped offering cuts about 5 min into after he and I both shot the Copags onto the floor!!
Got to 400/800 after about 1 hr 40 min. (Uh yeah I forgot to start the clock a few times....so??)
Um I really need to make sure that I have TD set up properly when I do this next time. I cannot manage this kind of a tournament and drink beer, which unfortunately I "have" to drink when I play poker....its written in the Garage Poker Tour bylaws!!
I will let you know how Jan 21 turns out!!! That is the official date for my heads up tourney!! |
