I was thinking about getting actual times on
1. a preflop fold
2. a postflop fold
3. a fold on the turn
4. a fold on the river
5. a hand taken to showdown
Now I know this is a little anal, but I figure it would help in estimating the length of a match between different personalities of players, super tights are going to fold a great deal preflop/postflop (meaning more hands per round) and super loose are going to make it to showdown more often (meaning fewer hands per round, but more movement of chips between opponents).
Then I am also going to record the number of hands dealt during a round of 10 min, and a round of 15 min for a comparision. (I figure that going through this process 2 times will give us a pretty good idea of what will happen during an "actual" tournament round of the same length)
Let me know what you think. |

Chips: 1,514 | | | Re: Heads Up Tournament Well KY70 I ran another trial tonight. Went with 10 min blinds, T10K stack, and followed your blind schedule but I added 300/600.
It took well over an hour. I say well over an hour because the two of us were, how do I put this....um.....intoxicated. Him moreso than me, which is usually reversed!! And on top of that the Giants were playing, and we are both pretty big fans of the Giants, him moreso than me again!
We got 7 hands in during the first set of blinds. Not a great start in my opinion. During the second round we managed a blazingly fast 8. And then I forgot to restart the clock. After playing a few hands, realizing the mistake and then starting it we got a superbly amazing 10 hands in! (4 of which I know I folded preflop on!!)
Then it went from bad to worse. Raising the blinds to 300/600 and a miscalculation by me sent most of the chips his way, then he bluffed 2 hands later, sending a large portion of the chips back to me. Then the final cous de gra, (I guess that how the French say it!!) My flopped pair of 7's beats out his all in bet on a pair of 6's!!!
In case your were wondering this was truly fantastic poker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also in case your wondering....I am going to run an alcohol free run this week against a player who does not drink. (Watch, this will probably be the night he falls off the wagon!)
I will keep you posted!
(Oh btw, Happy New Year!) |

Chips: 4,304 | | | Re: Heads Up Tournament I was wondering if you think this would work ok for a small heads-up set. I bought one of the 100ct Mahogany chip cases from MSPatton and will probably get some Samurai chips for it. Just because its an excuss for another set and I really love the $500 chip. This is only if the chips come out nice of course which I have a feeling they will, hoping atleast. Because I want all the $500 I can I was thinking a T20,000 with this breakdown
15 x 100 = 1500
27 x 500 = 13500
5 x 1000 = 5000
so this way if a match gets to level 5 and looks to keep going you can color up the 100's with the 6 extra 500's and play on with 500's and 1000's
Only change for this setup might be to go to 10 min blind at level 3 one level earlier than the T10,000 blind setup posted by ky70 earlier.
Blinds:
Level.....Minutes.......Small.........Big
1.............15.............$ 100........$ 200
2.............15.............$ 200........$ 400
3.............10.............$ 400........$ 800
4.............10.............$ 600........$ 1200
5.............10.............$ 1000.......$ 2000
6.............10.............$ 2000.......$ 4000
What do you guys think, this will be going on my desk at work. I work in an industrial area and when the power goes out, everything dies, phones included so there is nothing to do. Think this migh be a great way to pass the time and if it gets popular migh have to get another setup. I'll try a test run with someone when I can with my Pharoah's and see how it works.
Thanks

I think I will just go with a setup kinda like yours but add in 10 more 500's
Make it a T15,000
Shorten up the blinds like me previous one, or leave it alone but I think to make it end at about an hour I might have to.
so
20 x 100 = 2000
26 x 500 = 13,000
Total = 15,000
Also with a 100 ct set like I'm planning you can even have 8 extra 500's to color up if you wanted at level 5 but I was thinking I might just add an ante to keep the 100's in play. But the games may never make it that far, I'll see what my practice games look like.
