100-200
200-400

15 minute rounds - should not last more than 2 hours. | I always try to use the 1/100th rule, meaning make your first big blind 1/100th of the starting amount. In your case I would recommend using a T2500 structure with 10-15 minute rounds of something like:
25 / 25
25 / 50
50 / 100
color up 25's
100 / 200
200 / 400
300 / 600
400 / 800
500 / 1000
700 / 1500
This would ensure a quick and highly competitive game - probably pretty challenging as well, but if you think you can push your other players around it might be what you are looking for.
If you want to go the T5000 route, I would refer you to my posting earlier which outlines this very type of structure I use weekly for my regular game. You could drop the rounds from 20 minutes to 10-15 and simply cut out some of the rounds in order to speed up the play. Maybe somthing like:
Blinds
25 / 50
50 / 100
100 / 200
Color up $25's
200 / 400
400 / 800 - you may even drop this round, but it would be quite a jump without it
500 / 1000
800 / 1500
Color up $100's
1000 / 2000
Color up $500's
2000 / 4000
3000 / 6000
4000 / 8000
5000 / 10000

We normally have 4-6 players, sometimes up to 8.
Usual playing time of 2-2.5 hours. Starting stack
12 x $25
17 x $100
10 x $500
3 x $1000 Blinds
10 minute blind levels, except the first one which is 15 minutes.
1. 25/50
2. 50/100
3. 75/150
4. 100/200
5. 150/300
Colour up $25 chips.
6. 200/400
7. 300/600
8. 400/800
9. 500/1000
10. 700/1400
Colour up $100 chips.
11. 1000/2000
12. 1500/3000
13. 2000/4000
14. 2500/5000
Increase by 500/1000 each level after this.
Our tournaments normally end around level 9-10, although once we got up to level 13 or 14, after a long heads up battle I was involved in at the end of one. Chip sets and breakdowns
Right now I have a bit of a mixed set, in the process of completing an Egyptians set.
400 plain circle square ASMs:
96 x green ($25)
136 x black ($100)
96 x purple ($500) (I should have gone with lavender - it's too close to black in dim lighting)
56 x yellow ($1000)
16 x orange ($5000)
Egyptians (I can use these when we have 6 or less players):
75 x $25
60 x $500
24 x $1000 octagons
16 x $5000 plaques
Possible breakdown of 500 chips for this structure, handling 8 players max and 8 possible rebuys with 2 x $5000 chips:
100 x $25
175 or 160 x $100
125 or 120 x $500
75 or 80 x $1000
25 or 40 x $5000
I should probably change the starting stacks to T5000, based on the blinds and the 1/100 guideline, by removing the $1000 chips and some of the $500. I'd guess that it would make for a slightly shorter game, maybe 1.5-2 hours.
I'm also trying to figure out what I want to use for a a range of denominations from $5 to $500 (instead of $25 to $1000).

starting stack:
25 X 1 (AB - Blue)
20 X 5 (AB - Pink)
3 X 25 (AB - Green)
200 total
my breakdown:
200 Blue (1)
150 Pink (5)
200 Green (25 or .25)
50 Red/White/Blue (?)
blinds (15 minute rounds)
1-2
2-4
3-6
4-8 (Color up Blues)
5-10 (end of 1 rebuy per player)
10-20
15-30
20-40 (Color up Pink)
25-50
50-100
75-150
100-200 (until end)
Single table event 6-8 players (usually 6), 1 rebuy allowed per player through end of 5-10 round (1 hour 15 minutes). The tournaments usually last about 2.5 hours.
Third place gets $20, 1st and 2nd go about 70%-30% for the remaining money, which varies based on the number of re-buys.
cash game breakdown:
200 X .25 (Green)
200 X 1 (Blue)
150 X 5 (Pink)
50 X ? (Red/White/Blue)
$20 buyin - 8 Green ($2) 13 Blue ($13) & 1 Pink ($5)
.25/.50 Blinds
Usually have about $200-$300 in play after more buyins.

5.5 hours (including 20-minute breaks, what's the rush?) Rational or Commentary?
I go with larger starting stacks, smaller early blinds, and longer early levels in the hopes of giving new and/or less confident players a chance to enjoy themselves before things heat up. No amount of planning can keep someone from going all-in early with a low pair, but at least this way the tournament structure doesn't force them out early. |

It's not that I want to keep anyone else from doing it, I just don't want to spend the time if someone else already is. If you'd like me to pick it up from you, I'll be happy to. If not, I look forward to reading it in the future. Your call. Quote: |

My initial plan was to print out each submission, spend some time considering similarities and differences amongst them, and then see what made the most sense in terms of structuring the article. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
