Help with 7 card stud tourney structure

Our first league just ended and we voted and are going to start a new league next week that will run for 12 weeks, 2 games per night. The first game of the night will be NL Holdem, but the second game will alternate between Omaha and 7 card stud.

The only game I have not run before is stud. So, could any of you off suggestions for how to run a good 7 card stud game? My only experience with it is online.

I have a total of 92,500 chips to divide among 6 players (pharaoh's: 300 100's, 75 500's, 25 1000's.) So, I could accomodate 15000 chips per player. *If necessary, I have 250 faux clay chips that could be used for antes as a 25 chip or whatever*

I use DD Tournament Poker for my levels.

I won't be able to check the forums until this afternoon so thank you in advance.

Re: Help with 7 card stud tourney structure

I've run a few stud tournies so from my experience (i.e. mistakes) I'd say first off do fewer levels for longer but have the jumps be bigger. The constant changing of ante, bring in, 3-4 streets, 5-7 streets does peoples heads in. In general it takes much longer to play a hand of stud than hold 'em. Give yourself time to get through hands but make the jumps to force action as appropriate.

I'd maybe do something like this (straight limit, implies no re-buys):

$15K/players (20X$25/50X$100/11X$500/4X$1000)

Ante/Bring in/3-4 Street/5-7 street
25/50/100/200
50/100/200/400
75/150/300/600
100/200/400/800
125/250/500/1000
150/300/600/1200
200/400/800/1600
250/500/1000/2000

That's just a quick something I came up with based on the chips you have. The formula is a bit agressive but you can mellow by making the levels longer as I suggested.
